GREEN HOUSE EFFECTS
What is green house effects ?
rise in earth’s temperature.
By certain atmospheric gases.
That trap the sun’s energy .
Examples of trapping gases
Water vapour (H2O)
Carbon dioxide(CO2)
Nitrous oxide (N2O)
Methane (CH4)
Why are gases important ?
Heat would escape back into space
Earth’s temperature would be 60 F Colder
Makes earth suitable life
Traps heat from sun
Glass lets in light
Glass keeps heat from escaping
Causes greenhouse to heat up
PROCESS OF THE GREENHOUSEEFFECT
Some solar radiation Is reflected by the earth And the atmosphere .
Most radiation is absorbed by The earth surface And warms it.
Some solarRadiation passes Through the clear Atmosphere.
Some of the infrared radiation passes Through the atmosphere and some is Absorbed and re-emitted in all directionBy green house gas molecules. The Effect of this is to warm the earth’s Surface and the lower atmosphere .
SUN’S energy passes through atmosphere
26% is reflected or scattered
19 % absorbed by clouds , gases and particles
4% reflected to space by sun
51% reaches the surface
Possible causes of the green house effect
Deforestation
Burning of fossils fuels
Burning of wood and coal
Population growth
The end Thank you
