Please list all Committee activities for the 2015-2016 school year.

1. Decide on theme, decorations, & “giveaway” trinkets early. Order decorations & trinkets as early as possible.

2. Delegate which committee members will be taking care of particular jobs (i.e. painting rock, decorating, putting up road signs, etc.)

3. Check with PTSA to see what items they may already have that you could use (i.e. Welcome Back banner, decorations, etc.)

4. Contact Priscilla Radcliff (OCS teacher assistant) in early December to have front circle sign changed & ready for first day of school in January

Proposed Budget: Approved Budget Amount:

Please summarize Committee’s proposed actions as it relates to achieving stated goals and itemize how budgeted funds will be used.

~ Our theme was “It's YOUR year . . . Let the Good Times Roll!” We went with a Mardi Gras theme, with Mardi Gras decorations, Mardi Gras music being played in front lobby, & gave away Mardi Gras beads to those who wore their Senior t-shirt

~ We were lucky to only have to spend a little over $100 due to using what the PTSA already had that was leftover from past events. We used their Mardi Gras decorations & only had to buy tinsel/garland for decorating. Those decorations are in a bin near the auditorium, if needed again. PTSA also already owns a nice “Welcome Back Seniors” banner that can be used.

~ The rock was painted by parents & students who donated their own paint, so no money was used for that.

~ The chalk art on the front walk was done solely by Eileen Winiecki & she used her own chalk

~ The committee has road signs already laminated & ready to use. The only ones that need to be made are the ones with the particular year on them. They are stored with the banner. We used wooden stakes to display them (owned by Susanne Dudash), but you can also use voter/real estate wire sign-holders, as well. It depends on how frozen the ground may be in January, as stakes would be more difficult.

~ We spent:

$31 on tinsel/garland to enhance the Mardi Gras decorations that the PTSA already owned

$45 on candy to give away to seniors wearing their Senior t-shirt (individually wrapped Twizzlers & Haribo gummy bears from Office Max)

$29 on Mardi Gras beads to give away to seniors wearing their Senior t-shirt. Bought at least 260 beads from Dollar Store. Could have used even more, as the kids actually liked these & wanted to wear them that day.

$0 on paint, as it was donated by parents who were painting the rock

$0 on chalk, as it was donated by parent doing the chalk art

$0 on road signs, as we already have them (unless you want to make your class year a separate sign)

~ We did the “Bucket List” cards, but haven't figured out where to publish what the seniors actually wrote. PTSA still has many “Bucket List” cards.

~ We used 2 of the big tables in the front lobby to hand out beads & candy & have seniors write on the “Bucket List” cards. They were covered with plastic tablecloths that are stored in the Mardi Gras decoration bin.

~ We had about 8-10 parents there to man the tables, work the music, etc.

List how the committee will promote the committee’s program, events, and activities to students, staff, teachers, families, parents and school community. For example, submit information to the PTSA Falcon Forum, PTSA website. (Please also list months, topic and member responsible if other than the chair.)

~ We basically used social media to get the word out to the senior class & let them know to wear their Senior t-shirts that day. The senior leaders tweeted it to their classmates. It was also advertised on the Class of 2016 Facebook page. The news went out on the Falcon News Feed, The PTSA's Falcon Forum, & the principal's Sunday phone message.
