For more information about Council’s waste service call 9936 8100 GREEN GARDEN WASTE INCLUDES: • loose leaves • grass clippings • garden prunings, tree loppings tied together and no more than 7.5cm in diameter and 120cm in length ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED • untied prunings, tree stumps, tree loppings larger than the accepted size • food waste, including vegetables and fruit • material not in an approved 60 litre carry bin or similar sturdy container or mobile bin.

    Garbage and green waste must be presented in a bin for collection. Approvedgarbagecontainersinclude60litreplasticcarrybinsandmobilegarbage bins.

    If you wish to upgrade to a larger 80, 120 or 240 litre wheelie bin an additional fee applies and arrangements for payment must be made with Council prior to the mobile bin being used.

    Plastic, paper and other types of bags will not be collected.

    This is because:

    • Thereisahighriskofinjurytowaste collectors from needles, unwrapped broken glass, broken bottles or razor blades when they are in soft rather than rigid containers

    • Plastic,paperandotherbagsare unsightly and are more likely to attract vermin if the bag is damaged by birds or animals

    • Greenorganicmaterialissentfor composting and it is not possible to extract plastic or other bags from a shredded and compacted load.

    Garbage or green waste put out for collection in a plastic, paper or other bag will be considered to be dumped rubbish and may attract a fine of up to $750.

    Residents are responsible for storing their garbage and recycling bins in the correct manner.

    Garbage and recycling bins should:

    • beplaceddirectlyoutsideyourproperty where possible for collection

    • beplacedonthekerbthenight before your scheduled collection service and removed promptly after being emptied. Bins should not be left on the kerb for more than 24 hours.

    Please note that penalties may be imposed if you do not follow these guidelines.

    A household and green waste collection service is available on every alternate Mondayandmustbebooked.Youcanbookonlineatwww.northsydney.nsw.gov.au or by calling Council’s waste hotline at any time on 1300 799 019.

    Pleasenotethebookingmustbemadeby7pmonSundayforthedayservice. Any booking made after will be booked for collection in a fortnight’s time.PleaseplaceyourwasteoutonSundaynightforcollectiononMondaymorning.
