Greek Architecture
Homes of the rich / poor
Made of mud brick
Had many rooms Had a center
courtyard Walls and floors
were covered in

Temples
Greek life was dominated by religions so their temples were the biggest and most beautiful
This temple was dedicated to two gods, Hephaestus and Athena
3 Capital Orders
The Greeks developed 3 architectural systems/designs called the orders:
- Doric - very sturdy
- top (capital) is plain
- used in mainland Greece
- Ionic - two scrolls at the capital
- fancier than the Doric design
- Corinthian - has a taller capital
- Is more elaborate than the other two
- - capital has acanthus leaves
- sprouting from the column

Built on top of the hill on the acropolis
