Advice for new projects:

• Do your research and know your ongoing operational costs

• Do not under estimate the amount of staff time required to deliver CCTV projects

• CCTV projects can be difficult to cost• Talk to other LGA’s and learn from their experiences• Engage a consultant with proven LGA public open

space experience• Start conversations early with stakeholders/utilities

Page 10: Greater Shepparton City Council Safer City Camera Project Belinda Collins, Community Safety Officer Department of Justice, Public Safety Infrastructure

• Look for cost savings using existing Council owned infrastructure and underground conduits

• Investigate monitoring models• Be flexible• Keep the community, funding body & stakeholders

informed of progress• Ongoing community awareness post-commission

Remember : You are not alone! If you encounter a problem the chances are that another LGA has too and will be able to suggest solutions or alternatives
