2013 Annual Report The Greater McLean Chamber of Commerce is a group of forward-‐thinking, dedicated professionals committed to developing a vital, thriving business community in the McLean, Tysons Corner and Great Falls area. We are proud to provide our members with various opportunities through which to promote and grow their businesses. Some recent accomplishments include:
• Board Installation keynoted by Bridget Bean of the Small Business Administration. GMCC also collaborated with local leaders, recruiting these leaders to serve as celebrity bartenders at the event. The bartenders worked to raise tips (a non-‐dues revenue program) for the Chamber to use.
• Suits and Sneakers…On the Run! After successfully relocating the largest event of the year on less than 3 hours notice, our 4th Annual Suits and Sneakers was a great success.
• At Suits and Sneakers we presented the inaugural Mark C. Lowham Community Engagement Excellence Award to Rick Makely of McLean Giant.
• Secured high-‐profile speaker (Bill Strathmann, CEO of Network for Good) to keynote the Non-‐Profit Forum
• Our various education series—Small Business, Real Estate, and Non-‐Profit— established themselves as ongoing programs, each securing a separate corporate sponsorship.
• Hosted our annual Business Alliance Golf Outing at a new location, River Creek Club in Leesburg, VA.
• CIA Tour and Lunch: In its second year this new event again sold out, and will reoccur as an annual event.
• Continued to emphasize board recruitment and involvement, so as to sustain future growth.
• Welcomed seven new businesses to McLean with ribbon-‐cutting ceremonies • Revamped membership program and instituted an aggressive membership
drive. • Expanded and maintained our ongoing strategic marketing and
communications plan, which included a monthly calendar, weekly event summaries, and monthly e-‐newsletters—including one geared specifically at non-‐profits.
• Expanded media outreach efforts, resulting in increased media coverage. • Further developed existing partnerships with Cardinal Bank, Sun Gazette,
Washington Business Journal, and Constant Contact and forged new partnerships with United Way of the National Capitol Area, Vienna Business Alliance, and the Asian Chamber of Commerce.
• Established a formal strategic alliance with the Small Business Administration (SBA)
