ore than $1 billion in capital investments of at least $100,000 each in 2013 set a new record, beating 2012’s impressive total of $646.1 million. The community and region will reap dividends for decades to come—with even greater manufacturing diversity, in more than 1,300 new jobs being created and an economic impact of at least $3 billion. The year’s investments included $566.7M at 11 industries, nearly $300 million in Purdue University building projects, $52.5M in real estate developments and continued growth in other sectors. Focused, cooperative efforts among community members and groups to create a community known as “The Place of Choice” have included: extensive workforce development and education opportunities, assuring a skilled and ongoing supply of employees; quality of life enhancements that draw newcomers and attract young people; and recreational and cultural opportunities for all interests.
