Great Great ExpectationsExpectations

Matthew 28:18-20Matthew 22: 36-40

Church Motto:

A Great Commitment to the Great Commission

and the Great Commandment will produce a Great Church.

The Great Commission – Matt 28:18-20

All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me. Thererfore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything… And surely I am with you to the end of the age.”

The Great Commission answers our God-given “Task” question. The emphasis is on the “Do.”

- What does God expect the Church to do?

- What task has He called us to?

Matthew 22:36-40

“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

The Great Commandment answers the “Relational” question. What does God expect the church to “Be?”

What type of relationship does God expect us to have with Him and others?

Bottom Line: God has GREAT EXPECTATIONS for His people (the church) both in task-wise and relation-wise.

They go together. This is a Both/And not an Either/Or scenario.

A Key Question:

What can we as His people (Church) expect of God? God is asking great things of us.

Will He help supply what is needed to accomplish these “Greats?”

What has Jesus promised us in Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 1:8, Romans 8, ect.?

- His Power

- His Presence

- His Promise of a great reward

Let’s explore in more depth the “Great Expectations” God has for us.
