NORTHUMBRIAN WATER ARE UNDERTAKING IMPROVEMENT WORKS TO GRASSHOLME RESERVOIR

Further to the customer event that was held at Grassholme Reservoir on the 29th June 2019, this bulletin is to share the latest information regarding the

essential maintenance and improvement works at Grassholme Reservoir. The three key areas of works at the reservoir are 'Spillway Improvement Works',

'Northern Embankment Improvement Works' and 'Fishing and Sailing Amenity Works'. This bulletin highlights the works and provides visualisations of

planned works at the end of construction and 15 years post construction. Should you have any queries regarding the proposed works and would to dis-

Dam Crest and Spillway Improvement Works:

Fishing and Sailing Amenity Works

Works are being carried out to accommodate the changes to the water level in the reservoir, to improve access to the fishery and to improve the sailing club facilitates in terms of access, storage and boat launch. The ‘proposed’

Northern Embankment Improvement Works

Northern Embankment Earthworks: Earthworks to be carried out at the Northern Embankment to improve slope stability. The ‘Proposed’ photo below is a Post-Construction conceptual visualisation of the re-graded slope, the rein-

stated borrow pit, the re-aligned Carl Beck watercourse, re-aligned stone wall, compensatory planting area and new stone access track at the rear of the tumble bay to aid understanding and to seek views of stakeholders.

Tree Planting Works: Existing trees on the northern embankment slope will be removed and relocated within the new planting areas where practical to enable the earthworks to be carried out. We will plant trees within an area dou-
