The Life Of JessMy name is Jessica Helou, I am 22 years old, I am one of four kids and I am in my second year of my degree; Studying full time a Bachelor of Digital Media majoring in ephotojournalism. Before starting this degree I completed a bachelor of multimedia where I took a double minor in Digital Video and Visual Media. I decided to continue studying because I wanted to learn and improve my skills in photography, film and design.
I enjoy taking photos and making videos (whenever I can), I also like editing, sometimes, I enjoy doing graphic design but feel that I can improve in this area. Throughout the years I have learnt how to use adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier Pro, Final Cut Pro and know the basics to Adobe InDesign.
I love music, slurpies, Hello Kitty, skittles, energy drinks, ninjas, bright colourful things, taking photos and making vector images (see front cover). I love watching TV and I get hooked on show very fast (currently Supernatural and Criminal Minds), I love disney movies, books and video games (even though I am bad at them) and drawing, at the moment I am experimenting around with drawing portraits, zombies and ninjas. I have a facebook page called Helou Creative where i upload my work whenever i remember, a deviantART Account (www. http://juddstar.deviantart.com), and i am a lit-tle too obsessed with tumblr.

SponsorCoca Cola has teamed up with the Drop One Plastic Water Bottles group and has now dropped their plastic coke bottles. The have decided to go back to useing the glass bottles just as they did when it was first bottled in 1894 by a Mississippi shop owner Joseph A. Biedenharn.
This campaigne aims to teach parents the risks that plastic water bottles have on our land, water and wildlife. By doing this we hope that parents teach their children about recycling so the world is a safer place for people and animals.

Greenwashing“verb: the act of misleading consumers regarding the environmental practices of a company or the environmental benefits of a product or service” www.sinsofgreenwashing.org.
According to UL there are 7 sins of greenwashing. These include;1. Sin of the hidden trade-off: A statement which signifies that the product is a ‘green’ product
however it is built on slim set of attributes without using the attention of other important envi-ronmental issues
2. Sin of no proof: An environmental statement which cannot be verified by the easy access of supporting information or by a reliable authorized third party.
3. Sin of vagueness: A statement that has been horribly defined or that has a wide-ranging meaning and can be easily misinterpreted by the customer.
4. Sin of worshiping false labels: Through the advertisement of the product the images and text give the customers the impression that there is a third-party authorization where there are no such endorsements existing – for example fake labels.
5. Sin of irrelevance: An environmental statement that could be the truth but has no importance or is unhelpful (for the particular product) for customers who are looking for environmentally friendly products.
6. Sin of lesser than two evils: A statement that may be true for the particular product type, but there are dangers that are putting off the customer from the larger environmental influence of the product class as a whole.
7. Sin of fibbing: Environmental statements that are simply untrue.

Importance of RecyclingEveryday products are manufactured using plastic, for example containers, toys, furniture etc. Plastic water bottles, soft drink bottles, lids and shampoo bottles are found among the largest category of plastics. The rate for recycling the different types of plastic differs from one type of plastic to abother, however the overall recycling rate is only 8%, or in 2011 it was 2.7 million tons. Nevertheless, the rate of some types of plastic are higher than others.
By recycling plastic water bottles it helps save the worlds natural resources. The overall quantity of energy that is required to recycle a plastic bottle is lower than the amount of energy that is needed to produce a new plastic water bottle, it actually saves enough energy to power a 60 Watt bulb for at least six hours. It has been established that recycling can reduce climate change.

Out of about 29 billion bottles of water only about 13% of them end up in the recycling stream where they are made to be products such as fleece clothing, carpeting, decking, playground equipment and new containers and bottles. Approximately 2 million tons of water bottles ended up in landfills in the U.S in 2005, according to the National Resources Defence Council. If a water bottle is not recycled they take centuries to decompose and if they are burnt there are toxic byproducts, for example chlorine gast and ash which has heavy metals in them that are released into the atmosphere.

Atwan loves the Australian peopleAbdel Bari Atwan speaks his mind at the Brisbane Writers Festival.
Written by: Heather FaulknerAbdel Bari Atwan at the Brisbane Writers Festival
Al-Qa’ida expert arrives at right timeRosemary Sorensen, The Australian, September
17, 2007ABDEL Bari-Atwan has fallen in love with the
Australian people, following his highly publicised delayed arrival at the Brisbane Writers Festival on Saturday.
The Palestinian-born, London-based newspaper editor and author of The Secret Life of al-Qa’ida praised the Australian media for their support, and said he had been overwhelmed by the attention he had received when Immigration delayed his visa.
“I am very moved by the reception, and it makes me more in love with this country,” Atwan said yes-terday.
“I don’t want to be a hero, I don’t pick a fight. I think letting someone like me, who has a very criti-cal attitude towards the war (in Iraq), works to the Government’s advantage to let me speak my mind.”
Speaking publicly on Saturday and Sunday, Atwan told jokes about how scared he had been meeting Osama bin Laden in 1996, and warned the audi-ence that the failure to capture or kill the leader of al-Qa’ida had meant the organisation was spread-ing “like a Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise”.
“There used to be just one address, like the first cave on the left, but now there are six or seven addresses.
“It’s very clear that al-Qa’ida is a Hydra-headed monster.”
He said both he and Mo-hamed Haneef, the Indian doctor working on the Gold Coast whose work visa was cancelled during an investigation into terror-link claims, were victims of Islamophobia. “His case and mine are known because they are publicised but imagine how many cases are not publicised,” Atwan said.
His “visa saga” had now become “something to laugh about”, and he praised the members of the ABC television satire team, the Chaser, for inviting him to take part in the festival.
We need groups like the Chaser,” Atwan said. “We need to laugh at our politicians, and to highlight these kinds of mistakes.”
During a panel session on Saturday, chaired by ABC radio’s Rachel Kohn, Atwan had defused a situ-ation that had threatened to become unpleasant, when audience members began shouting at Kohn’s defence of the Iraq war.
“I was surprised that she entered into the argu-ment when she was supposed to be a neutral mod-erator,” Atwan said.
Instead, she was defending the undefendable.”Festival director Michael Campbell said Atwan’s al-
Qa’ida book was the best-selling title at the festival. “We had anticipated that there would be questions posed to him by audiences but I hadn’t expected it from the Government,” Mr Campbell said.
