CURTIS GRANDERSON STADIUM UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS AT CHICAGO  

Established in 2007, the Grand Kids Foundation focuses on aiding positive youth development via education, physical fitness and nutrition – providing tools and resources for educational and societal advancement. As Chairman of the Board, Curtis is an integral part of the Grand Kids Foundation community program development and is heavily involved in the creation of signature programs. To date, the foundation has implemented a Back- to-School initiative, Hurricane Sandy School Recovery Program, Jackie Robinson Day Tribute, Grand Kids Fitness Challenge, All Star Awards and various youth-oriented community programs.

GRAND KIDS FOUNDATION  

In 2012, Granderson made an initial donation of $5 Million to his alma mater – The University of Illinois at Chicago – for the development of Curtis Granderson Stadium at UIC. The University, Major League Baseball and its partners contributed additional funds to the current $10 Million project and state-of-the art facility, which serves Chicago’s inner-city youth. In this unrivaled partnership, Curtis and UIC are committed to bringing America’s favorite past time to 20,000+ kids annually in the City of Chicago by providing experiences that will aid in their mental and physical development. At Curtis Granderson Stadium at UIC it doesn’t matter what side of the street you come from or what problems you face at home – we leave it all outside these walls for a few short hours. Nothing can bring out the spirit in a child, or the child-like spirit in an adult, quite like the game of baseball.

CURTIS GRANDERSON STADIUM  

Curtis Granderson will host the 2nd Annual Grand Kids Camp at Curtis Granderson Stadium – University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). The Camp hosted by NY Mets All Star outfielder, will begin with a youth baseball clinic in which campers will spend time at various stations – infield, outfield, pitching/throwing and hitting. The rotational clinic will be followed by a Let’s Move inspired lunch break compliments of Chicago’s Foodbank Lunch Bus program – in which Curtis Granderson will educate campers on the importance of nutritional health and wellness. Post lunch, Campers will have the opportunity to spend time with Curtis Granderson and special guests (i.e. Q&A/Photo Opportunity) and take part in the Grand Kids Camp tournament-style scrimmage and awards ceremony.

Individual groups will ensure that each camper gets maximum instruction. GAMES AND COMPETITION Grand Kids Campers will participate in games, stations, and skill contests during the Grand Kids Clinic. Each camper will be placed on a clinic team according to his or her age and skill level. INSTRUCTIONAL LECTURES Curtis Granderson will be joined by UIC Flames Baseball Coaches and Staff to enhance the clinic and highlight the finer points of the game of baseball throughout each station and activity.
