1 Power of Words Guiding Question: How can language be used to influence how people act? Area of Interaction: Community and Service Student Learning Expectations: You will develop an awareness of community and a sense of belonging and responsibility, so that you become empowered to use the power of language to help raise the awareness of other members of your community. Objectives: communicate information, ideas and opinions understand and appropriately use structures and vocabulary request and provide information in both spoken and written contexts take part in formal and informal communications. Assessment You will learn about the language and style of persuasion through different genres and media. At the end of the unit you will create a trailer, a poster, and a blurb for your Language A documentary film showcasing your knowledge of persuasive techniques and emotive language. You will also regularly write reflections about your learning on your blog.
