GRADE 2 MESSAGES FROM ENGLAND! The Grade 2A class received an exciting envelope from Radlett Prep School in England! Thanks to Talitha’s contact within the school, their Year 2 class are going to be paired up with one of our class members this year and be pen pals. Our children were enthralled to open up the envelope and find handwritten postcards all about our new friendsschool, subjects, hobbies and even their different weather! Radlett chose to learn about South Africa for International Day they learnt a traditional African lullaby and created their own African masks. They drew lovely pictures of our flag and wildlife on the back of their postcards too. They asked interesting questions which our Grade 2 children will need to answer for example: ‘do you have a winter uniform’, ‘have you seen a shark’, ‘is it sunny in South Africa’, ‘what do you think about your school’, ‘do you have PE’ and ‘can you see a beach!’ We look forward to hearing from our new friends soon! GRADE 6 WATER FILTERS The Grade 6 children were given the following design brief: Grade 6 are planning a camping trip. They have all the equipment such as tents, sleeping bags and mats. The only problem is that there is no clean drinking water at the campsite. For such a large group, the teachers cannot take enough bottles of clean water. So, we have decided that the group should build a filter to purify the muddy water from the nearby stream. We need to help them design and build a filter to purify the water on the camping trip. They then had to use local resources, sand, stones, grass, as well as a few camping resources like charcoal and cloth to build their own water filter.

SPORTS NEWS SACS U12 HOCKEY FESTIVAL Ten of our U12 hockey players participated in the SACS Festival on Saturday afternoon from 15:00 – 19:00. They got the opportunity to join skill sessions, play friendly matches and to meet hockey icons such as Greg Clarke, to date, the most capped SA Hockey Player. Our boys had a wonderful afternoon and although they didn’t win their matches, they certainly gave their opposition a run for their money and were unlucky not to score on a number of occasions. A highlight was certainly bumping into 3 of our past pupils, who now attend SACS, James & Mikey Royden-Turner and Sebastian Devereux. All three boys have made A Hockey sides and are well respected at their new school. We are very proud of them as we were told that they bring great value to the SACS family. Well done, Boys!

GOOD LUCK ESTHER Congratulations to Esther Benson who has been selected for the Western Cape Athletics Team. Esther will be participating in the Girls U12 Long Jump at the National Event in Germiston this weekend and we wish her the very best of luck!

It was lovely to see our 3 goalkeepers gain confidence and show so much improvement in the 3-hour session. Well done to all of you!
