Introduction

The “Young Artists Club” is a club of the college associated to dramatics and itaims to create a platform for students who have a passion for the fine arts to become better in its aesthetics. Students, who wish to excel in acting and other related fields such as script writing, production, direction and costumes etc.should find the club as their platform. This platform enables the students in developing various skills. It develops skill in oral language and all expressive mechanisms related to voice and body. Students may develop understanding in Psychological, Moral, Physical and Socio-Economic analysis of the character. They learn the elements of stage craft and production. The club not only develops skills but also plays a very vital role in intellectual growth of a person.It helps in understanding the investigation of literature, history of divergent societies and cultures and drama as a social force. It provides an opportunity to learn the channels for creative dramatic work through original productions and alternative forms of theatrical expressions such as dance and mime etc. It makes the person realize the opportunities for leadership and group participation, meeting and interacting with students from other colleges in the context of social and intellectual activity.Objectives:-To enable members to develop interpersonal skills such as confidence, social interaction, responsibility sharing, planning, decision making, team work and problem sharing.To create opportunities for social and educational development through participation in the arts.To serve local community by remaining aware of contemporary issues and community needs.

The Report of the activities of the “Young Artists Club”

This year the club performs a wide ambit of activities ranging from one-act-play, skits, mime and nukkad natakas at various levels. The detail of the activities is as follows:-Inter College Level“Young artists club “ of the college participated in Himachal Pradesh Youth Festival Group-IV (Theatre) inter college competition held at Gautam Group of College at Hamirpur (w.e.f. 27-09-2016 to 29-09-2016) in which about 30 teams of the various colleges of the state took part. Our one act play team performed splendidly in this competition and secured 1st position. We too participated in skits competition where miss Shivani won the viewer’s choice best actor award in a comic role. Mime was also performed by the members of the club.

Campus Programmes

The members of the club performed many times during the various functions conducted by the forums like NSS. They performed a very conveying skits entitled “Pollution and its Side Effects”. Through this presentation a message was conveyed to the audience that the pollution of various kinds may cause diseases like TB, Asthma, Jaundice, Diarrhea and cancer.A satire entitled “Kripa Ruki Hui Hai” was performed during the course of NSS annual camp in which the doings of a Dhongi Baba was exposed.

On the eve of Science day a skit entitled “Pehle aur ab” was performed which showed that how the age of Science and Technology has changed the lives people in terms of the amenities.

“The Young Artists Club” of the college also performed a satire entitled “Jaago Voters Jaago” during the “Annual Youth Plenary” organized by the “Political Science and Public Administration” association. Through this skits the petty ways used by a politician to woo the voters were exposed. The same skits was preformed

during the state level fair at Rohru and the performance of the club was acclaimed widely and a cash prize of 10000 was given by the organizers.The members of the club gave a very touching performance on the song “Aye Mere Watan ke logo” during the Annual Youth Plenary

The play which won 1st prize in the Youth festival Competition was performed

on the occasion of Annual Prize Distribution Function of the College.

Outreach Programmes

The club of the college has strived to reach out to the community through theatre. A nukkad natak was staged at Rohru Bus Stand on the theme “Save Trees & Pollution Awareness” . The performance and the message conveyed through this nukkad natak both were appreciated by the local people.

A skits on the theme Drug Awareness was performed during the Anti Drug Drive of a local NGO. Thus the club is out reaching to the community through performing arts and making them aware about the contemporary issues.
