many times, the longest- 21 daysThe longer it lasts, the stronger the effects on the
American people and the global economy
Current Effects800,000 federal workers –NO PAYCHECKCould cost the US economy about $1 billion a
week in lost pay. Consequences?A three to four week shutdown could cost the
economy about $55 billion. During this time- President and Congress continue
getting paid.

Approval ratings for Obama and Congress at an all time low
Where are we today? Day 9President Obama and House Speaker John Boehner held
separate news conferences.Obama stated that he was not budging on his insistence
that the Republicans in Congress raise the borrowing authority and pass a bill to fund the government.
Boehner rejected the ideaThe government shutdown is denying financial benefits
to families of troops killed in combat. 56 public offices for Veterans were closed to veterans
wanting to make claims
