Funding an Arts Strategy

• fundraise externally (PFI) or ring fence (Treasury)

• aim to create an art in architecture / arts in health budget that is 1% of overall project cost

How is this done ?• Establish and allow an Art ,Design & Wellbeing Sub group

to: • raise external funds to assist the projects with affordability

development, integration and maintenance of art and design components

• recruit lead artists/curators to plan and implement work alongside the project architects, in consultation with project subgroups and patient and public reference groups

• Ensure integration by requiring the Art & Design sub group chair to report to the NHS Project Executive Group and individual Project Groups

What is in place to support NHSGG&C with this

initiative? • A Glasgow Arts and Health Learning Network: membership of leading

‘arts and health’ practitioners, academics and clinicians with field experience and research interest

• A Health Board Art, Architecture and Environment strategy group

• An NHSGGC Design Action Plan (October 07) developed in response to the Scottish Government Health Department Policy that requires each NHS Scotland body appoints a Design Champion at Board level with a supporting officer to develop a Design Action Plan - now in place and agreed by the Board

• ArtFull - Arts, mental health and well- being Scottish Government and Scottish Arts Council National strategy for the promotion of arts participation in mental health and wellbeing
