Issue 3 Term 2 Monday 15 June 2020
PrinciPal’s rePort
Dear parents/carers,
I would like to thank everyone for your cooperation during drop off, pick up and school hours by
staying off the school site. Whilst I understand that this can be inconvenient, it has meant that we have
been able to keep our community safe. You would have noticed we sent out updated guidelines for
families from the Department of Education using our various communication methods. Hopefully, we
will be able to resume many of our extra-curricular activities after the school holidays. We are in
communication with some external providers to try and have them back working with the school to
assist our students. It is a credit to you and our teachers that our students are so settled and producing
high quality work despite having weeks of remote learning and a different routine to what they are
normally accustomed to.
At this stage school camps, excursions, parent volunteers and parent attendance is still cancelled.
At Goulburn West in line with the rest of the schools in NSW, we are closely monitoring student
absence. If a student is absent more than 3 days without a medical certificate, this will be recorded as
an unauthorised absence and followed up by the school. Also if there is a history of poor school
attendance, the school will follow the usual protocols in regards to the Home School Liaison Program.
NSW Health advice indicates students are unlikely to infect any vulnerable family members. Students
are encouraged to return to school.
We have started to have small assemblies in stage groups to celebrate student achievement, discuss
our PBL message and also for myself to address the students. It has been great to hear why students
are being recognised.
I would like to thank Mrs Collins and Mrs McKillop as they have come in some weekends to work in the
school gardens. We really appreciate the efforts they have gone to, to keep our school looking nice.
Also a thank you to Mr Hazelgrove for his tireless efforts in maintaining our school grounds.
Regards
S Osborne

Getting a new cast I got a new cast on Friday. I got a red cast it is tighter
than my other cast. I went to see my GP to tell me what
cast I need. Mum paid $13 for a fibreglass cast. The cast
is splash proof. I got to have a choice of the colour the
choices were blue, red, green, pink and purple.
I chose red. By Tori Douglass

Waste Free Wednesday Challenge
Goulburn West Public School will be implementing a WASTE FREE WEDNESDAY CHALLENGE starting
this Wednesday 3 June 2020 to reduce the amount of waste that the school contributes to landfill.
Families and students are encouraged to support this initiative by being creative and sending food in
reusable containers.
Goulburn West will be running a Pokemon Club for students.
The club is for students interested in playing the Pokemon card game. There will be
mentors for those new to the game.
They meet during recess time on Wednesday in the library.
NO cards are to be brought in from home.
Due to some very generous donations from , and some of our
Goulburn West families, the school has several decks of cards that the club will play
with.
If you have any questions about the club please contact Mrs Gooch.
