Taken from The Singing News.

By Eva Mae LeFevre

It seems just yesterday that Iwalked down a long aisle, dressedin a handmade white satin gownwith a beautiful lace veil to say "IDo" to the man I love more ^ananyone on this earth, UriasLeFevre. It was a large church inGreenville, South Carolina, thatseated over two thousand pet^leand it was packed to capacity;they were ^so standing in theyards as far as you could see outthe windows. Thetime-9:00p.m.on a Sunday night, September 9,1934.

On that night, I joined thegroup(TheLeFevres) tosing andplaypiano. My husbandthought Iwas very talented, so he spentmuch of his time promoting me.After several years, I becameM.C. for the group; and today, 42years later, I am still singing, playing pianoand doing the M.C.work for The LeFevres.

Urias and Alphus (the two menthat started this group) haveretired and seem to be so happyin retirement. They both haveexcellent health; however, I am59 years old and still goingstrong. I have no plans fta*retirement as long as myhusband and I stay well;although any time my husbandneeds me, I shall be by his side.

In my 42 years of work in thisgroup, the personnel has changedfrom lime to time, but I havenever worked with a better group

bass; also, he is a good managerand leader. There is no greaterperson in gospd music todaythan Rex Nelon. His style of basssinging will always be remembered.

Before I joined this group, Itraveled with my father to help inhis ministry. When I was 13yearsold, I was a good driver so I was agreat help to daddy in many ways- singing, playing the piano, anddriving at night while Daddyslept after a hard day. I alsohelped Mama with thehousework, as I was the oldest ofnine children. This meant gettingup at 6:00 a.m. so I could cleanthe entire house before leavingfor school. My mom and dad aredevout Christians and we hadfamily prayer morning, noon, andnight. What a heritage, worthmore than millions of dollars tome. I thank God that He has letme keep Mom and Dad a longtime. They are precious.

When I met my husband, mydaddy had the LeFevre Quartetto come to our church to sing;and I was W)ly eight years old.Urias was sixteen, but he toldAlphus that night that he had methis wife, meaning me. He waitedfor me to grow up and we

' married when I was only 17 yearsold (Urias 25). To our marriagecame five children, three boysand two girls. Pierce is 40 yearsold; Meurice 39, Andrea 38,Mylon 32. and Monteia 21. We

Music makes a prayer stronger, lifts the spirit from the mire, stretches worship moments longer, hangs a banner from the spire.Music dyes the flowers deeper, sharpens all the candle flames, wakes the solitary sleeper, shakes the windows in their frames.Music stirs the heart atremble, sets the waiting soul afire, helps the scattered thoughts assemble, brings God nearer. To The EditorDear Editor:

Since I became a member of the Barren

River Boys, four or five months ago, I have

been getting Gospel Reaching Out

through the quartet and I want to take the

time to subscribe for it to come direct to my

address so I would be able to get a day or

so sooner. I am enclosing a check to two

other friends and kindred so that they may

enjoy the paper as much as I have.

I have met so many nice people that I

already seemed to know through reading

about them in the paper.

To the editor's staff, I would like to

extend my thanks for the service you

render to all of us. I am enjoying the

Barren River Boys and our family have a lot

of good times together-Thanks!
