Step 1: Select your document

Open Google Docs. Locate the document you wish to display in Second Life. Select the document (it will highlight) by clicking on it. It will open in a new window.

Step 2: The Share settings

With the document open, locate the "Share" button in the upper right of the screen.Click on "Share".

Step 3: Changing the Share settings

When the "Share settings" window opens, click on the "Change" link.

Step 4: Making the document Public

By default your document is set to "Private".Change the setting to "Public on the web" by clicking the radio button next to it.

Step 5: Saving your new Share settings

Once you have made the change, click on the "Save button.

Step 6: Your public document URL

You will now be presented with the URL address for the document.This will be needed in Second Life to display the document.It will be highlighted, so right click on the address and select copy.

Step 7: Adding the URL to Second Life Media Board

Now open and login to Second Life.Go to your virtual classroom and locate your media board.When you place your mouse over the board, the address box will appear.Select the address that is in the address box (ctrl + A) and delete.Now paste (ctrl + V) your Google docs URL address.If necessary, hit the refresh button.

Step 8: Displaying your document

Now your Google doc should appear on the media board.Depending on your connection, it may take a few seconds to display.Now everyone in your virtual classroom can see the document.*Note: You may want to preview this before you present it in class. Sometimes the text can be small and you may want to reformat the document with larger text.
