Starting Calender

Start Google Calendar from you Gmail by clicking on the word “Calendar” in the menu as shown below.

On the left side of the screen, you have a monthly calendar. You can scroll through months using the arrows next to the month name. You also have below that, your calendars. You already have several calendars set up for you. You should have:

one of your ownone for each class you teach

Clicking on the color of the calendar name, you can choose to view it or not. If it has a color, you see events on your calendar. (HINT: The color will NOT change until you move the mouse away from the color)

Turn off a class calendar (and move your mouse away from it)

Turn it back on

In the center of the screen, you should see a week at a time. You can change this with the menu in the upper right.

There are two ways to add an event (appointment):

click on the day and around the time of the event. This will give you a menu to input the event.

type in the event name and it is very important to select the calendar you want to add the event to.

If it is for you click create event or edit event if you want to change the time to something other than 9, or 10, such as 10:46.

This will bring up the full window for the event.

Click on “Create” and then type the name of the event, calendar, and times.

 

IN YOUR CALENDAR:Create an event for tomorrow from 8:30 –

3:30 for “Google App Training” in Room 431Add a reminder for ½ hour before the eventALTERNATELY

Create an event on a class calendar that is a homework assignment All day events can be started by clicking at the top of

the day’s schedule

 To create a calendar for a particular reason, for example a club or a resource, click on the “gear” icon in the upper right.

Click on “Settings”Click on “My Calendars”

Under Calendar Settings, scroll down to “Create New Calendar”

Create a new calendar for a club called the Book Club

Share it with Mary and me.

Add an event called “book swap” on Monday, December 2, 2013 at 4:00 at the Plainville public library
