Good News!

• The Show Choirs performed at Waukee on Saturday, January 16th. Xhilaration won the Day Time cattegory followed by a Grand Championship victory in the evening! Xhilaration all won in “Best Vocals” and “Best Band”. Xuberance won the “Prep” category. Congratulations to all members of the Show Choirs on an outstanding competition at Waukee!

• The Wrestling team competed on Saturday, January 16th at the Marion Tournament. Braxton Chicchelly won the championship at 130 and David Ryberg won the championship at 215. Jack Boland placed 3rd at 160 and Josh McDonald placed 3rd at Heavyweight. The Saints wrestle again next Thursday in a MVC Double Dual @ Iowa City High.

• The District Large Group Speech Contest will be held on Saturday @ Iowa City High. Performances begin at 8:00 a.m. Good luck to Mr. Davidson and all members of the Xavier Speech Company!

• T• The Girls Basketball team is ranked 10th in the week’s IGHSAU 4A Poll. The Saints beat Prairie last night by a score of 58 to 25. The team plays again next Tuesday hosting 9th ranked Iowa City West.

• The Boys Basketball team plays Prairie tonight at Xavier. The sophomore game begins at 6:00 followed by the varsity game at 7:30 p.m. This is “Hall of Fame” night. Leslie Charipar (L ’85), Stephen Havlik (R ’69), Kirk Haefner (R ’84) and Xavier faculty member and girls basketball coach Tom Lilly (R ’73) will be honored. honored.

• The week of February 1-5 is Catholic Schools Week. This year’s theme is: “Catholic Schools: Dividends for Life.” Our assembly for Catholic Schools Week will be Monday, February 1 at 9:50 a.m. The assembly will include scripture, music, and a student address from Tom Lilly.

Our liturgy for Catholic Schools Week will be next Tuesday, February 2 at 10:00 a.m. Fr Phil Thompson, our pastoral February 2 at 10:00 a.m. Fr Phil Thompson, our pastoral coordinator and pastor of St. Patrick’s will preside. The liturgy will also include 6-8th graders from our middle schools.
