GOLF COURSE UPDATE LEADER BOARD CONNECTING MEMBERS The weather has been very kind to the course so far. We are predicted to have another summer with above normal temperatures followed by lower than normal precipitation. When the warm weather arrives we will be setting sprinklers around the course as well as hand watering the stressed areas. We have been busy adding and shifting employees on our maintenance staff. Norm and Pete are still mowing fairways. Terrell Domebo is a new employee who will be mowing tees and approaches. Kristine Riggers is a new employee who will be our horticulturist. Tad is the person who picks the course clean each morning. Blake is still on the rough and Tony is our banks mower. Tucker Keyes is going to move into the assistant superintendent position. Kyle Spence is a new employee who will be a full time seasonal. Jeffery, Palmer, Coltin, and Sam will be returning this year as soon as school is out. Bob is still keeping all the equipment in top shape and running from one end of the course to the other helping where he can. We will have a busy summer this year working on bunkers and maintaining the course through the heat. I am working on a different type of bunker sand that will firm up enough to eliminate the “fried egg” and to keep sand from blowing out due to the wind. Our goal is to improve all the current bunkers that have sand and reconstruct 5 and 10 this summer. Cart path repair is on the plate as well. The weather has been very kind to the course so far.

Blake is still on the rough and Tony is our banks mower. or improve the skills of an already golfer, plus it’s a great value. The kids learn quite a bit as we’ll cover everything from etiquette to the full swing for all clubs during the sessions; and it’s only $50 for

the week. After the camp, we’ll schedule some follow up sessions through the summer to help keep their games sharp. We offer the Junior Golf to members, relatives and friends of members. Call us in the golf shop at 758-7911 for details or to get them registered.

GOLF LESSONS

I recently hired PGA Teaching Professional Loren Jeglum to help conduct lessons at the club. Loren is a well decorated

will be getting things started with an 8:00 shotgun start and the course will open for regular play starting at 2:00.

CALLAWAY AND MIZUNOwill be having a demo dayon the driving range Sunday, June 2nd from 9:00 – 2:00.

This is a great opportunity for members to upgrade their clubs and get fitted with both vendors newest equipment they have to offer.

JUNIOR GOLF CLINIC

School will let out soon so for those kids that want to get into golf we offer a 5-day instructional clinic that runs June 10th – 14th (Monday –

Friday) from 9:00 – 10:00 AM. The Junior Camp is a great way to either introduce a youngster to the game

player in the Northwest and knows a lot about the swing and how to help you lower your scores on the golf course. Loren specializes in all facets of the swing and is well educated on helping golfers that have limitations or are fresh off an injury/surgery. You will see Loren around the club a lot more often, so if you are looking for a tune-up, please come see Loren or I to get a lesson scheduled.

LADIES GOLF CLINIC

We will be offering a Ladies Golf Clinic starting in June. The dates are scheduled for Friday, June 7th, 14th & 21st.

The clinic will begin at 5:15 PM and the cost is only $20

per session. Loren Jeglum will be conducting the clinics and he is going to cover everything from putting to driving, etiquette and rules. The clinic is geared towards beginner and intermediate golfers. If this is something you’d like to do, please give us a call at (509) 758-7911 and sign up by yourself, with a friendor as a group.

REMINDERS

• The driving range light DOES NOT

WORK, so please pay attention and be careful of golfers playing #’s 3 and 9 when you are hitting range balls.

• When parking on the paths around our tees and especially our greens, please keep all 4 wheels on the path. If a cart path is not provided, keep your carts at least 30 feet away from all tees and greens.

• When driving your cart from tee to green, please use the provided cart paths or drive your cart in the rough and follow the 90* rule as best you can. • Before your round be sure to pick up a bottle of sand and seed. After your round, please drop off your empty so we can refill it for the next day.

• If everyone filled in one extra divot and fixed yours and one other ball mark on the green, it would greatly improve the overall condition of our golf course.

Jordan Mackey,Golf Pro

The course has been the busiest I’ve seen in a long time, which is great to see! The tee sheet has remained quite full throughout the day, so please be sure to call and make a tee time before you head to the course. Our tournament schedule lightens up as we head into the summer months. The first tournament in June will be the U.S. Open golf tournament held on Saturday, June 15th. This is an individual tournament open to both members and guests. The format is your 18-hole net score on Saturday, combined with the 36-hole weekend score of your U.S. Open Pro that you choose to be your partner for the weekend. You will arrange your own tee times with at least one other tournament participant and the entry fee for members is $25. The annual Tri-State Chip Shot Classic will take place on Saturday, June 22nd.
