Golden Rule Music is a new service from the folks at Plank Road Publishing

Most of us have heard and sung this tune since we werekids, but you’ve never heard it like this. The heart ofthe arrangement is a foot-tapping rock style with anintriguing new harmonic treatment. The melody andlyrics are traditional, so it can be performed with evenyour youngest singers.
Actually, the setting has two parts, a “prelude”that is intended for a solo voice, then the bouncyversion of the tune, complete with a happy “la”melody for the intro and a final interlude. Therecording is broken into two parts so that you can justdo the tune by itself or in a more theatrical versionwith the simple prelude and then the tune itself.

Performance/Accompaniment Recordings - Virtually all ofPlank Road Publishing’s products have recordings that feature at least two performances of each song. There is a Full Performance, with children singing the words over theappropriate accompaniments. Then, there is an Accompaniment Only recording which features just the accompaniment tracks and any soundeffects that aren’t meant to be performed by the children.
All of our recordings are available onprofessionally mastered, high-quality CDs.
Real Musicians – Real Instruments – Great Recordings - We are proud of our recordings and spend a lot of time doing them right. We use top professional musicians, playing
real instruments with orchestrations appropriate to the style of thepiece. If the song needs a string quartet, that’s what you’ll
hear. And if the tune calls for a rock band, it will be asuperb one, recorded in a way that your singers
will enjoy. If you listen to our song excerptsonline, you will hear big bands, polka bands,folk groups, Dixieland groups, and full
orchestras as well. Do we use synthesizers and electronic
keyboards? Certainly. We take atruckload of them to every recording
session. But we go to these instruments tofind sounds that are unique to them. Wedon’t use them instead of strings, banjos,
or saxophones. Even though many other publishing companies charge much more for
their recordings, you will find that ours are unsurpassed in quality.
Legally Reproducible Music & Money-Saving Kits - We pioneered the concept of legally reproducible music for musiceducators. Virtually all of Plank Road Publishing’s productscome with the right to freely duplicate the music. Evenproducts that have separate Student Editions for sale come withreproducible lyric sheets.

Properly warming up young singerscan be tough, especially when youhave a limited amount of time withthem and when your singers are easilydistracted. By popular demand, Anneand Teresa have created a fundamentalset of warm-ups designed with thesechallenges in mind.
Anne Ellsworth is one of thenation’s finest sopranos, and brings tothis project her extensive training withtop vocal instructors along with herbackground with The San FranciscoOpera and many top choral groups. Ofcourse, she is equally at home with jazzand pop stylings, and working withchildren. She has worked for a numberof years now with her sister, TeresaJennings, to help produce the superb
recordings that make all of Plank Road Publishing’s products so special. In the recording studio, where time is at a premium, Teresa and Anne have a
unique ability to get children singing energetically and musically no matter whatthe style of the work. The first few minutes of each session are the key to theirsuccess, as they carefully warm up the singers and establish the mood. In thiswonderful set of exercises, they share some of their secrets in a format that ispractical, methodical, and pedagogically sound. And as you might expect, theyhave also included a couple of specially arranged “just for fun” exercisesguaranteed to loosen up your singers and help you relax them in rehearsal orbefore a performance when this can be very important.
