32nd Annual Golden Age Olympics
McAllen Parks & Recreation
1. All athletes must be 50 years of age or over to participate. Age is calculated as of the beginning date of the event. Events are open to all persons; there is no residency requirement. Some events may have additional fees as specified on the event description.
2. To be eligible to compete, participants must complete a registration form. Registration is invalid if form is NOT SIGNED. For events requiring a partner, both partners must complete registration forms. Participants are strongly encouraged to REGISTER EARLY to ensure your participation in the event of your choice.
3. Fee is $8.00 for the first event and $6.00 for each event thereafter. No refunds for cancellations will be issued. All sales are final. T-shirts and awards ceremony tickets will ONLY be provided to participants in paid events.
4. Registration forms MUST be received one week prior to each event unless otherwise noted. This includes mail-in registration forms. No late or on-site registration will be accepted. Register during regular business hours at the Las Palmas Community Center at 1921 N. 25th (681-3350), Lark Community Center at 2601 Lark (681-3340) or Palm View Community Center at 3401 Jordan (681-3360). REGISTRATION IS NO LONGER ACCEPTED AT THE PARKS AND RECREATION ADMINISTRATION BUILDING LOCATED AT 1000 S. WARE RD. Online registration and rules available at www.mcallen.net/parks.
5. Each event must have at least three participants in order to have an official 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awarded. An event having less than three participants is subject to being dropped from competition or combined with another age group.
6. Game time is forfeit time for all events.
ALL PARTICIPANTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR OBTAINING THE RULES FROM THE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT FOR THE EVENTS THEY ARE ENTERING.
REGISTRATIONRegistration is no longer accepted at the McAllen Parks and Recreation Administration Office (1000 S. Ware Rd, across from the McAllen Convention Center). Please register at Lark, Las Palmas or Palm View Community Centers during regular business hours. T-shirts will be available at time of registration or on-site each event.
MEDALSMedals will be awarded at the end of each competition, when applicable. Results for some events will require extra time to tabulate in order to provide accuracy in scoring. We kindly ask for your patience.
ENTRY FEEEntry Fee is $8.00 for the first event and $6.00 for each event thereafter.

AWARDS CEREMONYThe format for the awards ceremony will differ from previous years. At the awards ceremony, the overall male and female Olympian in addition to the Overall Park winner will be recognized. Event winners will not be recognized individually, but will be recognized in their perspective groups (Gold, Silver & Bronze).

PICKLEBALLDOUBLES (Men, Women or Mixed) A racquet sport combining elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. The sport is played on a court with the same dimensions as a doubles badminton court. The net is similar to a tennis net, but is mounted two inches lower. The game is played with a hard paddle and a polymer wiffle ball. Age divisions may apply based on enrollment. PARK VS. PARK COMPETITIONEach RV Park will compete for a unique Park vs. Park Award. Points are awarded for placing in individual events. In team events, 80% of players must be from the same park to receive points.
SADIE HAWKINS DAYThe Rio Grande Valley Vipers championship National Basketball League Development team, will host a special practice for participants of the Golden Age Olympics. Get up close and personal with the Vipers with an autograph session and enjoy a performance from the Snake Charmers, the Vipers dance team.
