XT Hunter

Expedition Hunter

Pro HunterBROWN BEAR HUNTINGOn southeast Alaska’s Baranof Island,

the streams are lined with thou-

sand-year-old Sitka spruce and the

thick rainforest jungles of the

Tongass National Forest. Creeping up

these streams, bow in hand, is one of

the most exciting – and nerve-wracking

– experiences any bow hunter can have.

When the time comes and a shot at nearly

a thousand pounds of brown bear pres-

ents itself, the last thing you need to

be worrying about is whether your ar-

row shaft will fly straight and true,

or when it gets there it will be tough

enough to penetrate the bear’s thick

hide and huge muscles. That’s why I

shoot Gold Tip Pro Hunter shafts.

They’re the toughest, straight-

est, most accurate hunting arrows

I have ever shot. I know they

won’t let me down.

HUNTING IN AFRICAI had already shot clean through an impala, blesbok, warthog and wildebeest with a single huntin’ tough Gold Tip arrow when I got a crack at a 750 pound Zebra. If the striped stallion had fallen on its other side, I may have only needed one arrow for my entire African safari! I wouldn’t recommend traveling half way around the world to hunt and only bring one arrow. But if I did try such a feat, I’d trust Gold Tip.

30X Pro & 30XONLY THE BESTThe 2005 tournament season is complete. It was a great year shooting Gold Tip arrows, which I consider to be the most ac-curate, consistent and toughest arrows I’ve ever shot. It was excit-ing to win the IBO World Championship

and the IBO National Championship this year. Those were the 2 remaining titles that I hadn’t previously won in the ar-chery venues I shoot.During my 13-year professional archery career I have won 53 National Titles, including 9 World Championship and 10 Shooter of the Year titles - all ac-complished in the Professional Men’s Division. At this point in my career, I wouldn’t shoot anything that I didn’t KNOW to be the best. Thanks, Gold Tip! Jeff Hopkins

Gold Tip Weight SystemFront-of-center (FOC) balance point is a very important factor in determining the accuracy of your arrows. If FOC bal-ance point is below 8%, the controlling point of the arrow will move toward the nock causing the arrow to be inconsistent and less accurate. If FOC balance point is above 15%, arrow spine can be reduced causing arrows to dive. Adding weight to the point end makes arrow flight more consistent and increas-es penetration. Adding weight to both the point end and nock end of the shaft will increase overall arrow weight without altering dynamic spine. Importantly, these adjustments can be made in the field or on the range without removing the insert. Simply pull the nock out and use our weight wrench to add or subtract weight. Vanes and Feathers

FeathersArchers who demand the stability of feathers will love the broad selection of Gold Tip feathers. Feather-fletched shafts offer higher rates of spin for greater control and guidance and make bow tun-ing both easier and less critical. Further-more, Gold Tip feathers are up to 500% lighter than plastic vanes, enabling you to increase your arrow speeds and increase the usable spine range of arrows. The net result is flatter trajectories making open country range estimation errors and tree stand angle cut errors less critical.

Arrow Selection Follow these directions for using the Arrow Selection Chart:

Step #1 – Determine point weight for compound bows (85-, 100- or 125-grain) or use the traditional chart for longbows or recurves. Then select your draw length.

Step #2 – Find your draw weight in the chart on the left side.

Step #3 – Find your spine group number.

Step #4 – Use your spine group number with the charts on the right to identify arrows that are correctly spined.

Step #5 Use the product infor-mation listed in the catalog to choose as arrow that best meets your needs.

Arrow Selection, Safety & Tuning

Safety

OVERDRAW WARNING: THE USE OF AN OVERDRAW THAT ALLOWS SHOOTERS TO DRAW THE FORWARD TIP OF AN ARROW PAST THE BOWS HANDGRIP, SIGNIFICANTLY INCREAS-ES THE RISK OF INJURY TO THE SHOOTER. Even when using a bow equipped with an overdraw, the arrow should always be cut one to one and one-half inches in front of the farthest point of where the arrow contacts the rest at full draw length. Select an arrow length that does not allow the arrow to be drawn past the arrow rest. Selecting the correct arrow length is solely the responsibility of the shooter.

REST WARNING: Before shooting Gold Tip arrows, it is extremely important to inspect the rest and ensure it is properly adjusted for the diameter of the arrow being shot because shaft diameters vary from arrow to arrow. FAILURE TO PROPERLY ADJUST THE ARROW REST SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASES THE RISK OF INJURY TO THE SHOOTER. Incorrect rest adjustment may cause the arrow to fall off of the rest and/or get hung up in the bow, potentially resulting in injuries to the shooter or bystanders. ALWAYS MAKE SURE THAT YOUR EQUIPMENT AND ESPECIALLY YOUR REST IS PROPERLY ADJUSTED TO THE PROPER SHAFT DIAMETER BY A QUALIFIED INDIVIDUAL BEFORE SHOOTING GOLD TIP AR-ROWS.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS: ALWAYS INSPECT EACH ARROW FOR DAMAGE BEFORE EACH SHOT. Proper care of graphite arrows can ensure years of quality performance. However, shafts can be damaged. To inspect the arrow, hold it on both ends and flex it away from yourself and others while visibly and audibly checking for splinters, cracks or nicks. Rotate and repeat this inspection four to five times. If you find the arrow to be damaged in any way, destroy it immediately. SHOOTING DAMAGED GRAPHITE AR-ROWS CAN RESULT IN ARROW FAILURE AND POSSIBLE BODILY INJURY.

CUTTING GRAPHITE ARROWS: It is very important to cut graphite arrows to the correct length. ARROWS THAT ARE CUT TOO SHORT CAN BECOME LODGED IN THE ARROW REST OR BEHIND THE RISER OF THE BOW. Shooting an arrow that is lodged in a bow in this manner will almost certainly result in arrow failure, damage to equipment and personal injury. GOLD TIP STRONGLY RECOM-MENDS THAT ARROWS BE CUT NO LESS THAN ONE TO ONE AND ONE-HALF INCHES IN FRONT OF THE ARROW REST.
