By the time he was 10, Dunham was performing anywhere he could find an audience. His relationship with his characters has universal appeal, and after graduating from Baylor University, he moved to Los Angeles and soon became a sensation on the national comedy club circuit.

Driftwood Players25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

A riotous ride, com-plete with audience

participation, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is delightful musical comedic genius.

An eclectic group of six midpubescents vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home life, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life-unaffirming “ding” of the bell that signals a spelling mistake.

An unusual aspect of the show is that audience members are invited on stage to compete in the spelling bee alongside the char-acters. Another amusing aspect is that when asked to use words in a sentence, the official pronouncer gives ridiculous examples.

Six spellers enter; one speller wins.
