トラックのデザインとは、トラックに求められる「機能」を形にすることである。デザインチームは、新型車の開発コンセプトをもとに、燃費効率の向上を図るキャブのエアロダイナミックスの追求はもとより、人間工学に基づく操作性に優れたコックピットづくり、視認性の向上など、快適で安全なドライブを実現するデザインに取り組んでいる。

40年以上にわたり進化してきた環境技術

UDトラックスは1960年代から低排出かつ燃費性能に優れた高性能エンジンの開発に尽力。そして2004年に発表した大型トラック「クオン」に、トラック用として世界初の尿素SCRシステム

「FLENDS」を搭載。その後、「FLENDS」のさらなる性能向上を図り、2009 年から実施された「ポスト新長期排ガス規制」、2015年度の「重量車燃費基準」を全車がクリア。2017年発表の新型

「クオン」は平成28年度排出ガス規制に適合。

Since the late 1960s, UD Trucks has devoted its energy to develop a sophisticated low-pollution engine

with excellent fuel efficiency. In 2004, UD Trucks introduced an urea selective catalytic reduction (SCR)

system known as FLENDS (Final Low Emission New Diesel System) equipped in the Quon. This marked a first in the world and resulted in a substantial boost in environmental performance and fuel economy.

UD Trucks continued working to boost the performance of FLENDS and this meant all trucks cleared

revised regulations enacted in 2009, while conforming to heavy vehicle fuel efficiency standards set for

2015. The all-new Quon, launched in 2017, complies with Japanese 2016 exhaust gas regulations.

For UD Trucks, a key goal is to boost fuel economyand environmental performance simultaneously.

Designing a truck is all about bringing shape to functions demanded by the

market. Besides the pursuit of aerodynamics for the cab to boost fuel efficiency,

The engine line started operation in 2010, integrates a production process featuring UD Trucks’ traditional just-in-time approach with a long-standing system of continuous improvement, or kaizen. This style of production is based on the state-of-the-art universal standard Volvo Production System.

The new medium-duty truck Condor meets all kinds of

business needs with a greater variety of models. The

lightweight, compact engine realizes high performance and

will significantly contribute to a reduction of transportation

costs. By adopting automated manual transmission as a

new option, the Condor reduces fatigue of drivers. The

Condor is equipped with multiple advanced safety systems

such as the pre-crash brake capable of double detection

with a millimeter-wave radar and camera, the lane

departure warning system, and the millimeter-wave

inter-vehicle warning system that firmly contributes to the

day-to-day safe operation of vehicles.

The Kazet series offers a rich line-up of light-duty trucks,

including hybrid vehicles, four-by-fours, as well as the RK,

which offers the cargo space and loading capacity of a

medium-duty truck. In addition to achieving high levels of

environmental performance, the adoption of the dual-clutch

AMT enables the automatic selection of an appropriate

gear level and provides high transmission efficiency,

thereby contributing to fuel-savings. Smooth gearshift and

significant reductions in gearshift time provide a balance

between powerful drive and a good drivability.
