Capsize Activities
• Is everybody OK ?– The Scot floats even when capsized
• Go to the centerboard immediately – Protect yourself when the boat rights itself
• Otherwise, free main sheets, etc. first– Main sail ‘sea anchor’, misplaced crew, …
• Occupy and bail boat as buoyancy allows
Before you Capsize
• Does you crew know what to do?• Can all of your crew swim?• Do you have anything on board that
absolutely, positively cannot get wet ?… or lost ? (Keys, wallet, … etc.)
• Always sail with ‘a little’ centerboard• Good news … the Scot Floats!!
… stay with the boat until help arrives
