God’s story for Saint Richard’s continues to unfold
November 2014
RockThe
From the rectorthe AmAziNg teNt eveNt ~ were you there?
Dear Saint Richard’s Family and Friends,
I am writing to give you just a bit of a heads up.
Every Sunday in November is a brilliant event of one kind or another related
to the Growing with Grace capital campaign or kicking off the Advent Season.
Don’t miss a one!
Rather than being frenetic and awfully distracting from our First Love, each
Sunday is an opportunity to gather and give thanks, celebrating all that God
has done in our lives. Don’t miss any of them, and get back as fast as you can
from Thanksgiving travels to begin a holy season of Advent and the new year of
remembering and proclaiming the Story of God’s Redemption and Renewal of
the world in Jesus Christ.
God has done amazing things in our lives. We’re telling His story every time we
are together. That’s why every Sunday matters, reminding us of the other six
days we do life together or just mindful of each other. Certainly, life rooted at
Saint Richard’s is like what Paul told the Thessalonians, “So deeply do we care for
you that we were delighted to share with you not only the Gospel of God but also our
own selves, because you had become so dear to us.” (1 Thessalonians 2.8).
Love y’all! I am ever yours in Christ Jesus,
The Rev. F. Stuart Shelby, Rector

Join me in thanking the Youth and Children that continue to serve alongside the adults and remind us of the good work we have before us “building” the Kingdom.

Round Rock Serving Center Ministry UpdateThanks for your continued and generous support of the Round Rock Area Serving Center (RRASC)!

They have done a wonderful job of continuing to meet the needs of the less fortunate in our community.
From January through September RRASC has assisted 40,088 individuals from 9,252 households with food, clothing and household goods. The number of clients served remains consistent with last year so the Round Rock area is not seeing an increased need but a consistent use of services.
The Serving Center continues to raise funds through grants, sales from their Treasures Charity Resale Shop, the Karamu Fill the Pantry Fundraiser and donations from local businesses and faith communities like Saint Richard’s.
The Community Wide Food Drive will be held November 1- Nov. 14 in preparation to meet the needs for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Please help with this holiday effort by bringing non-perishable food items and placing them in the large basket at the entrance to the Narthex. Those items will be delivered to the Serving Center to assist in meeting the needs of our community.
Family Volunteer Day and the Hike for HungerNovember 22 is national Family Volunteer Day, on which the Round Rock Army Recruiting Office will lead the “Hike for Hunger” food drive. The Army Recruiting staff will hike with food they have collected the two miles from Hester’s Crossing to the Serving Center. The Hike for Hunger is a family activity supported by the Round Rock Police Department and all are welcome to join in this community event beginning at 10:00am. A RRISD school bus will take participants back to the Hester’s Crossing shopping center after the hike. This is a great way to get out with your family, get some exercise and show your support for the mission of the Serving Center.
For more information on how you can get involved email:
SSG Michael Wallace, [email protected] or Lori Scott, [email protected] Round Rock Area Serving Center is always in need of volunteers.
