LEADER BIBLE STUDY Nature is better to watch than most television programs! A quick glance through the
window or from a back porch can be a study of deer, squirrels, birds, dogs, cows, or
chickens. At the beach a person can enjoy watching seagulls and pelicans flying along
the coastline and crabs and turtles crawling on the sand. It would not be uncommon
to see a pod of porpoises swim by.
It is astounding how many different kinds of living creatures inhabit this planet.
Both on land and in the sea, the diversity of life and balance of nature testify to a
Master Designer. In the first session, we looked at the first four days of God’s creative
work. On the fifth day, God continued His handiwork by filling the earth with all sorts
of living species. He created fish and other aquatic life to swarm the seas. He made
winged birds to fly through the skies. The word created (Genesis 1: 21) is the Hebrew
word bara, the same word for a special creation as used in Genesis 1:1.
The sixth day of creation began with God making higher forms of land animals:
livestock, crawling creatures, and wildlife.
Go look out a window. How many different living creatures can you see? List
them here: _______________________________________________________
How does the balance of nature testify to the existence of God? (See
Romans 1:18-20.) ___________________________________________________
________________________________________________________________
In your opinion, should people respect animals, either wild or domesticated?
How and why? ____________________________________________________

GOD MADE ANIMALS —Based on Genesis 1:20 -25,30; 2:2
In the beginning, God made the world. He made the day and night. He made
the sky. He gathered the waters together and made the land. He made plants to
grow. He made the sun, moon, and the stars. Four days had passed.
Now God said, “Let the waters fill with all kinds of sea animals. Let the birds
fly in the sky.” God made everything that swims in the ocean. God made all kinds
of birds to fly in the sky. He saw that these were good. That was the fifth day.
Then God said, “Let living creatures fill the earth, all kinds of animals; cattle
and crawling animals and wild animals.” God made all kinds of animals. God said
that the animals would eat the plants and fruit that He had made.
God also made people. God saw everything that He had made. It was very
good. That was the sixth day.
All the heavens and the earth were created. God had finished making them.
On the seventh day, God rested.
►Recall the Bible story. Ask the kids to tell things they remember from the story. Ask
them to name something God made. Listen as the kids talk about the Bible story.
►Explore the Life Point and pray. Lay the covered Teaching Picture on the floor.
Give a child a button or coin to toss onto the Teaching Picture. Guide her to remove
the sticky note on which the button landed. Ask what she sees that God made.
Continue until each child has a turn or all the notes are removed. Emphasize that God
made animals. Ask for volunteers to pray and thank God for making animals.
►Learn a Bible verse. Open the Bible to Genesis 1:25. Read the verse. Show the verse
from the Leader Pack and guide the kids to say it with you. Suggest kids say the verse
as if they were bears. Then say the verse as parrots, fish, bees, or other animals.
►Wrap it up. Show the “God Made Animals: Life Action” video.

SING TOGETHERTo the tune “The Farmer in the Dell,” sing these
words:
Tell me what God made,
Tell me what God made,
God made the animals,*
Tell me what God made.
*Lead kids to name specific animals (or other things)
God made.
SAY THE MEMORY VERSEOpen the Bible to Genesis 1:25 and read it. Direct
each child to find a partner. Tell partners to say
the verse to each other. Say: “Switch!” and tell the
kids to find new partners and say the verse to each
other. Switch one more time and say the verse with
everyone. Guide the kids to move to their chairs.
PRAYPlay soft music and encourage kids to pray quietly
to themselves. After a minute or so, say a brief
prayer and close by saying, “Amen.”
BIBLE-LEARNING ACTIVITIESA. Make animal masks. Provide paper plates,
colored paper, scissors, and glue. Kids can
use the materials to create masks of different
animals. As they work, talk about the Bible
story. Tell the kids that God made every
animal. He made the birds and fish. Pray,
thanking God for all He made. When the
work is complete, kids may want to hold their
masks in front of their faces and pretend to be
the animals.
B. Build a zoo. Provide wooden blocks, wide
craft sticks, and plastic animal figures. Invite
the kids to build a zoo for the animals. Talk
about the different animal figures. Kids may
want to sort the figures into groups as they
build and create their zoo. Open a Bible to
Genesis 1:25 and read the verse.
C. Work verse puzzles. Print Genesis 1:25 on
paper. Make copies on different colors of
paper. (You can print Genesis 1:1 on paper,
too.) Cut each paper into several pieces. Lead
kids to assemble the verses. As they work, talk
about the Bible story. Read the completed
verses. Ask the kids to name specific animals
or other things that God made.
D. Toss and tell. Print the words sky, water, and
land on papers; one category per page. Lay
the papers near a wall. Make a tossing line a
few feet from the words. Lead a child to toss
a beanbag onto one of the pieces of paper.
Then he can name an animal that flies in the
sky, swims in the water, or moves on the land.
Make a list of animals and challenge kids to
name animals not on the list.
CLEAN UPMove to each activity and ask kids to put away
materials. Thank kids for their work.
PLAY A GUESSING GAMESay: “I’m thinking of an animal God made. It’s
green. It hops. It eats flies.” Call on kids to guess
which animal you are describing. After they guess,
describe another animal God made and let kids
guess. Option: Choose volunteers to describe
animals. Assist kids as needed. Some kindergartners
will have difficulty creating clues.
DISMISSAs each child gathers his belongings, tell parents
the Life Point. Encourage them to read the story
together from the One Conversation™ page
this week.

GOD MADE YOU AND ME
God made the day,
God made the night,
God made everything,
Yes, that’s right!
God made the sun,
God made the moon,
God made everything,
Yes, it’s true!
He made the world, so big and round,
Oceans blue and fluffy clouds,
Chirping birds and buzzing bees,
God made you and me.

UNIT 1, SESSION 2
In the beginning, God made the world. He made the day and night. He made the sky. He gathered the waters together and made the land. He made plants to grow. He made the sun, moon, and the stars. Four days had passed. Now God said, “Let the waters fill with all kinds of sea animals. Let the birds fly in the sky.” God made everything that swims in the ocean. God made all kinds of birds to fly in the sky. He saw that these were good. That was the fifth day. Then God said, “Let living creatures fill the earth, all kinds of animals. Cattle and crawling animals and wild animals.” God made all kinds of animals. God said that the animals would eat the plants and fruit that He had made. God also made people. God saw everything that He had made. It was very good. That was the sixth day. All the heavens and the earth were created. God had finished making them. On the seventh day, God rested.

KIMBERLY CAIN
Bible Studies For Life Kindergarten, Fall 2016 © 2016 LifeWay. Published in the United States of America
Children all over the world are important to Jesus. He loves them and wants them to learn about Him when they are very young. Christian workers, like Kimberly Cain in West Africa, love the children like Jesus does.
Sometimes Kimberly teaches kids as they sit on mats on the dusty ground. Sometimes she teaches kids at a local church where the roof is made of woven grass. That church building might not look like yours, but the children in West Africa are learning the same stories from the Bible that you are!
Kimberly uses a storying cloth to tell stories from the Bible. Each picture on the cloth tells a story. Kimberly tells children the story of creation and continues with stories about Jesus so children can grow up knowing Him and telling others about Him.
Ways to pray for the people and missionaries in West Africa:
• Pray that missionaries will be willing and able to learn the language spoken by the people so they can tell the people about Jesus.
• Pray for missionaries as they adjust to a different culture in a part of the world where the temperature stays very hot all year.
• Pray that the children of West Africa will learn to follow Jesus at a young age.
