Physical Fitness Goals You will choose two fitness goals using

your fitness test aiming to improve your results!

How will your fitness goals help you achieve your wellness goal?

(Exercise is the main prescription that should be used by physicians)

Follow the SMART FORMAT to create your wellness goal.

1. SPECIFIC Your objective must be clear, not just “I

want to get in shape”. A specific goal would sound more like this; “I want to be able to perform 30 pushups by the end of the month”

2. Meaningful and measureable How will you know that you achieved your goal? Decide on goals that are important to

you, and make it easy to measure them.

Ex. I want to be able to run for 20 minutes straight without loosing my breath.

3. Action-Oriented – What steps do I need to take?

You goal will be attained only if you make it clear what you need to do in order to achieve that goal.

Ex. I want to lose 10 pounds in the next 3 months by cutting my junk food consumption in half, and eating a good breakfast every morning.

4. Time – How long will it take you to reach this goal?

All goals must have a time line to determine when you want to accomplish the goal. Usually it is a number of days, months, years or by a specific date.

Ex. I want to be able to perform 40 push ups by the end of the semester.

5. Realistic – How likely are you to reach your goal?

Do not try to accomplish something that is impossible. Doing 300 sit-ups in 1 minute might not be possible if you can only do 20 right now.

A more realistic goal might be to perform 40 sit-ups in 1 minute by the end of the semester.

Work time1. Think about an area in your life that will contribute to your overall well being ie. better sleep, eating habits etc

2. Write down a goal that will help you achieve that desire. Show your teacher today.

3. Using a white board or blank piece of paper, re- write your wellness goal and hold it in one hand. Hold a blank white board in the other hand so that you can re evaluate and write a new goal throughout the semester if needed.

4. Using your phone or camera have a friend take a picture of yourself holding the two white boards.

5. Copy picture from phone or camera to computer and print it off. This will be glued onto the front of your folder.
