The Kingspan Wind KW3EX turbine was developed for use in the North Sea, and has been successfully operating for over 10 years on offshore un-manned oil/gas platforms. Based on the KW3 wind turbine, the KW3EX has been optimised for the harsh environment experienced offshore. With over 27 turbines currently installed in the North Sea and Indian Ocean the KW3EX is the world’s first and only ATEX approved turbine.

The ATEX rating is achieved using an innovative slip-ring enclosure to encapsulate any potential sparks - ensuring maximum environmental protection within a range of hazardous environments. With North Sea wind speeds averaging 11m/s and often exceeding 18m/s, the KW3EX offers unrivalled performance during the fiercest of storms and optimum energy yield for a whole host of applications.

HYBRID SYSTEMSKingspan Wind is a leading turn-key solution provider, offering complete hybrid off-grid power solution to areas totally reliant on diesel generators. The Kingspan Wind range is optimised for off-grid applications. Complete turbine frame is made from steel tube and bar sections welded to laser cut steel profile plates. Parts are then hot dip galvanised. The frame sections are covered with polypropylene plastic covers secured to frame with cable ties. Generator cover is a moulded plastic cover secured with a steel banding.
