Visit to the Yusupov Palace. A unique architectural ensemble and historical and cultural monument built in the 18th to 20th centuries on the embankment of the River Moika, the Yusupov Palace is an ‘encyclopedia’ of St Petersburg aristo-cratic interior design from different periods.

On this trip you will see the palace’s staterooms, private theatre, an exhibition on the killing of Grigory Rasputin (‘Grigory Rasputin: pages from his life and death’), and much else besides. The introductory tour of the staterooms is an op-portunity not merely to admire the unique palace interiors, but also to hear nu-merous old legends and interesting facts about the Yusupovs, the owners of this

wonderful palace. The Yusupovs had one of the best art collections in Europe, with works by both European and Russian artists. The private theatre, which is rightly considered the palace’s most splendid jewel, witnessed performances by famous actors, singers, and ballet dancers, including by one of the most memorable female members of the Yusupov family, Zinaida Yusupova. During your visit to the family’s private quarters you will come across a number of surprises, including an Aladdin’s cave that once served as a treasure house.

The exhibition on Grigory Rasputin will immerse you in the secrets of palace revolutions and set out the true facts of the murder of this extraordinary human being, who was killed on the night of December the 16th, 1916 by Prince Felix Yusupov (Junior), Grand Duke Dmitry Pavlovich, and others. The atmosphere of this tragic event is brilliantly and precisely conveyed in the design of this museum exhibition.

Excursion at Yusupov Palace with Rasputin Exposition (3 hours).
