REGISTER NOW Community Heroes and Explorers After School Workshop For 5 th -7 th graders Starts September 24 in Ross, CA What This workshop will be a wonderful, unique, intimate space for 5th-7th grade students to delve into personal passions for community action--figure out what their interests are, and be guided to each research and implement an independent/small-group project of his or her choosing. Educator and Community Developers Suzanne and Kala (assisted by high school interns) will coach the students through this process, which will culminate in a cool, hip public event where students may present their projects and what they learned. Students will gain many valuable real-world skills, and their projects will most certainly enhance any school application packet. Their projects could also double as service hours required for some schools or for scouting. Unsure of what your student's passion is? That's exactly what we'll work to EXPLORE together! This club is designed to hone in on a student's personal interests and go through a process of self-discovery and inquiry. Curriculum will include: Mindfulness and "What's your passion?" exercises, Inspirational speakers and books, guided research and interviews of experts in their chosen field of study When Ten Thursdays after-school starting SEPTEMBER 24, plus one event at end of semester (December date tbd). Who 5th-7th graders from any school in SF BAY--(6 students minimum, 12 students maximum) Where GLEAN's ultra chic and inspiring space in Ross at 32 Ross Common, Ste. 240 Fees (10 sessions, with one possible Sunday plus December event): $400 --Optional shuttling service after school + study hall (1pm pickup from Davidson and study hall from 1:30-3:30): $30 per use (*tentative 3pm pickup at middle schools will be made available based upon response) Please reserve your child's spot before September 15, for what we believe will be the most unique and fulfilling after-school program EVER! DESCRIPTION

In this real world, project-based after school workshop, students each explore a community issue of their choosing and develop a plan of action to improve it. Leaders are experts in the field of education, real world learning, community service and building aligned lives. Our small group of 6-12 young people will have a great time getting to know themselves, the community in which they live, and each other. The workshop activities could also count as community service credit at participants' schools.
