WFCC Membership Membership Growth is the topic at hand and we are tackling it with creativity and optimism! Your Board of Governors, Membership Chair: Charlie Gibson, along with the rest of the Membership Committee, and WFCC Staff are working diligently to grow your Club! Here are some of the exciting options that we are offering. We are excited to announce that we will be extending our Membership Growth Program for November! If you have friends or family that are not currently members, let them know that now is the time to join. Their initiation fee will be waved and they will receive 2 months of free dues! What an opportunity!
Trent SchiekGeneral Manager
Fall is such a great time of year. Temperatures drop and everything outside looks great. I want to thank everyone who came out and enjoyed our Halloween festivities. That is always a fun event. We also had a very successful wine dinner with the Count. Thanks to all who attended. Our Thanksgiving Brunch will be held on Thursday, November 23rd, so everyone put that on the calendar. I want to welcome two new Senior Staff Members to our team. Mark Greer is our new Head Golf Professional. Mark comes to us from Cabo San Lucas, where he opened up the first Tiger Woods designed golf course in the world. He has also worked at Spanish Oaks in Austin, and Miramont in Bryan/College Station. Our other new team member is controller, Jerry Gilbert. Jerry has been working at Falls Distributing for over 25 years, and with that business recently selling, we are very glad to add him to our team. Please help me in welcoming these gentlemen to our Club. Look forward to seeing you at the Club.
Membership growth almost solely relies on current members spreading the word about what a wonderful Club they have the privilege of enjoying. Creating and maintaining a culture of positive speech and excitement go a long way when trying to grow our current WFCC family. Do you know someone whose family would truly enjoy the WFCC experience? Please call me today or have them call or email so that I can get them on their way to benefitting from this fantastic program being offered. The Club is now offering the option to purchase a share of stock through a 3-year payment plan. One share of stock is $4,000. This is a wonderful opportunity for Junior members that are nearing 40 to begin paying for their share ahead of time, rather than having to pay all at once in the month they are no longer eligible for the Junior membership. This option will not be limited to Juniors, though. If you currently have a different level of membership, but have been entertaining the idea of getting out on the golf course, or simply upgrading your membership, this would be a great way to get going. Please let me know if this is something that you are interested in setting up. One other exciting option that the Board of Governors and Membership Committee will be offering is a membership category that was offered in the past that allows an individual to have a full golfing membership, without having to purchase a share of stock. This Non-Stock Golf membership would have the exact same fee structure as the Stockholding membership, however, without owning a share, the Non-Stock Golf member would not have voting privileges nor would they be eligible to serve on the Board. This membership category will be limited to 10 memberships and will be filled on a first come first served basis. Please call or email me with any questions that you may have.
Special Events Wow! November and December calendars are almost full, and have been for quite some time. That being said, call or email me TODAY if you have not scheduled your holiday gathering, so that we can help make it a success. Events at the Club are the only way to go, as they eliminate so much stress that otherwise comes along with planning a special function. Be sure to call right away to get your family’s reservation for our Thanksgiving feast, as these time slots fill so quickly. Bring the entire family out so that you can all get your fill, leave with a to-go box for a midafternoon snack, and return home to a CLEAN KITCHEN! The Wichita Falls Country Club staff is truly thankful for each and every one of you, and wish you the very best for the Holiday Season!

Those of you who have read the Rules of Golf know that the book itself does not begin with rules. In fact, the rules do not even start until Section III. The first part of the book is a three page introduction that discusses the spirit and basic philosophies of the game. This introduction, entitled, "Etiquette; Behavior on the Course" is the basic foundation of why so many people love this great game. Here are some excerpts from Section I of the Rules of Golf that can help all players have more fun on the course:
Introduction: This section provides guidelines on the manner in which the game of golf should be played. If they are followed, all players will gain maximum enjoyment from the game. The overriding principle is that consideration should be shown to others on the course at all times. The game relies on the integrity of the individual to show consideration for other players and abide by the rules. Players should ensure that any electronic device taken on to the course does not distract other players. Play at a good pace and keep up. It is a group's responsibility to keep up with the group in front. Players should be ready to play as soon as it is their turn to play. Priority on the course is determined by pace of play. The term "group" includes a single player. There are quite a few more interesting notes in this short section of the rules that may help you and your group enjoy your round more while ensuring that the rest of the players have a great time as well. I invite you to take just five minutes to read Section I of the rules at www.usga.org. I look forward to continuing my golf journey with all of you!

As the seasons change, we begin having cooler daytime highs and nighttime lows. You know summer-time stress is over when you have the heater on during the morning drive and the AC on in the afternoon! With the cooler temperatures, greens are on the road to recovery! As we get further into Fall the “leaf battle” will begin. Please be patient with us as we work diligently through the process. We will soon be shifting gears on the golf course from summer mode into winter, or project mode. We have several projects I would like to accomplish this winter; some of the main issues are settlement areas around drains and repairing broken cart paths. Another area of concern for this winter are spots off the cart path that hold water. For example, off the bridge on 14 cart path and between the white and red tee box on 1. I would also like to welcome Mark Greer to the WFCC family. I look forward to working with Mark to provide the best product for our Membership!
See you on the Golf Course!

New Stock Payment OptionThe Club is now offering the option to purchase a share of stock through a 3 year payment plan. This is a wonderful
opportunity for Junior members that are nearing 40 to begin paying for their share ahead of time. This option will not be limited to Juniors, though. If you currently have a
different level of membership, but have been entertaining the idea of getting out on the golf course, or simply
upgrading your membership, this would be a great wayto get going!

Womans GolfAssociation
Here’s five helpful hints for lady golfers when playing this holiday season (and any other time):
1. Please mute your cell phone. No one likes to hear “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer” or other cell phone distractions in the middle of a backswing.
2. Please follow the flight of your own ball.Even though your co-players on the tee box may think they know where your ball went and are more than happy to help you find your pink, green, orange, yellow or even boring white ball, you are ultimately responsible for finding your own ball. Remember, speed of play is important. If you think your ball may be lost, hit a provisional ball. If you cannot follow your provisional ball, hit the driving range!
3. Recognize when it’s time for golf lessons.Golfers are helpful people but after a while “keep your head down“, “slow down your swing speed,” and other helpful hints become confusing and often result in cranial overload and even poorer outcomes. Here’s a good rule of thumb: “If your friendly, unsolicited adviser is a NOT a single digit or scratch golfer, sign up for lessons from a golf professional.”
4. Focus on distance. We all know the importance of a good drive and approach shot to the green, but it’s what happens around and on the green that impacts your score most. I can tell you chips and putts left short can quickly lead to a really fancy “Snowman” on your card! Did you know? We have a very lovely short game practice range at our club!
5. Don’t be shy to ask for new clubs, lessons or a new golfing wardrobe this holiday season. Most of us have a pretty generous Santa in our
house, and he knows exactly where to shop! How does the saying go – “When the wife’s happy, everybody’s happy?” Merry Christmas to whoever coined that phrase!
***********It’s time for us to GET MERRY! Once again our WGA will host its annual Ladies Christmas Luncheon so look for the Evite that will be coming your way soon. Traditionally held early in December, this is always a well-attended event so you won’t want to miss it! If we do not have your current contact information, please give Linda Hanger or Cheryl Prothro a call.
Happy Holidays to you and yours!Linda Hanger
