The Office of Advanced Academics is sponsoring NEW

Academic Competitions and expanding on existing options

beginning in the 2015-16 school year.

The Noetic Learning Math Contest (NLMC) is a semiannual problem solving contest for elementary students. The goal of the competition is to encourage students' interest in math, to develop their problem solving skills, and to inspire them to excel in math.

Coding Club will be open to elementary students interested in

learning more about the world of code.

Robotics will available to all intermediate and high school

campuses.

KISD Boot Camps All boot camps are on Saturday 9:00

AM-1:00PM and Sunday 1:00PM-5:00

PM.

Any Klein ISD high school student can

attend a boot camp on any campus and

the registration fee is $175 per student

for both days.

College Crosswalk Month

The Klein ISD has designated October 5th to November 2nd as it’s College

Crosswalk Month to promote college/career readiness. All Klein ISD

campuses will offer a variety of specific college preparation opportunities and

activities to elementary, intermediate, and high school students. Please visit

your student’s campus website for specific information. You can also visit the

district “College and Career Readiness” website for great resources

concerning academic planning, college entrance test preparations, and

2015 TAGT Annual Conference

December 2 – 4 San Antonio, TX

TAGT 2015 will bring together nearly 2,000 educators who

share a passion for gifted education! Attendees will have the

chance to create vital connections, engage in and lead

important conversations, and become empowered to continue

to make a difference in the gifted community.

This unique experience features over 150 training sessions in

15 strands of designated subjects. TAGT is an approved

provider of CE credit for educators, counselors, psychologists

and school board members. Join us December 2-4 at the San

Antonio Convention Center and the Grand Hyatt San Antonio!

Duke TIP Talent Search

Duke TIP Talent Search 4th-6th Grade

Duke TIP's 4th–6th Grade Talent Search is a chance

for families of qualified students to gain access to

programs within Duke TIP. Enrollment eligibility is an

honor and indicates outstanding intellectual ability.

Students are qualified to enroll when they are in the

fourth, fifth, or sixth grade. To qualify, students must

score in the 95th percentile or higher on a grade-level

standardized achievement test, aptitude test, mental-

ability test, or approved state criterion-referenced test.

If a student previously enrolled as a fourth or fifth

grader, they do not enroll again. The enrollment for

Duke TIP Talent Search 4th-6th begins October 1st .

Duke TIP Talent Search 7th-8th Grade

Duke TIP's 7th Grade Talent Search is the largest

program of its kind in the nation. Student must be in

the seventh grade (or a current eighth grader who

skipped seventh grade). To qualify students must

score in the 95th percentile or higher on a grade-level

standardized achievement test, aptitude test, mental-

ability test, or approved state criterion-referenced test.

Enrollment begins August 1st. The nonrefundable

enrollment fee of $75 ($30 for fee grant) covers the

cost of the ACT or SAT testing plus other talent search

participant benefits through the student's eleventh

grade year.
