Project Overview

Make a gift card gift a little more special and personalized with a handmade holder. Add a ribbon to attach it to an existing gift bag or box or hang it from the Christmas tree.

Gather Supplies

Fabric:• Sheet of craft felt

Thread:• Sulky 40 wt. Rayon

Stabilizers:• Sulky Sticky+™

• Sulky Solvy® Water Soluble Stabilizer

Embroidery Pattern (no bigger than 2 ½” x 3”)

¼”-wide Grosgrain Ribbon

General Directions:Please read through all the directions prior to starting the project.

Step 1 Hoop a rectangle of Sulky Sticky Plus stabilizer with the paper side facing up. Score the paper within the inner hoop ring, and then peel away the paper backing to reveal the adhesive.

Center one felt sheet corner in the hoop; use the perimeter baste function to further secure the layers in the hoop.

Step 3

Embroider the design, and then remove the stabilizer from the hoop.Remove the excess stabilizer from the felt wrong side.

Trim the fleece to 3” x 3 3/4”, centering the embroidery and taking the design direction into account.Cut an additional 3” x 4 ¼” rectangle from the remaining felt.

Step 5

Place the embroidered rectangle over the plain rectangle with the lower edges and sides aligned. Stitch ¼” from the perimeter, leaving the top rectangle upper edge free. Backstitch along the top rectangle upper-edge corners several times to secure.

Step 6 - To Add Ribbon

Snip a ½”-wide slit into the back rectangle upper-edge center, between the stitching line and the top rectangle upper edge. Insert a ribbon length through the slit.

Step 7

Knot the ribbon ends. Insert the gift card.

To use as-is, insert a gift card into the slot and gift it to someone you love.
