The Rowing and Canoe Federation for East and Central
Africa established in 2010 Nairobi – Kenya.
In the implementation of this project were involved, along
with the Sudan Rowing & Canoe Federation, the International
University of Africa, and the Rowing & Canoe Federation for
East & Central Africa in a period of 6 months, where we plan
to use this project to highlight the Importance of Establishing
Rowing Training Center in Eastern & Central Africa.

no champions do exist internationally
from the region who might help
motivate decision-makers to support
rowing.
Most of these countries do not have
rowing Federations yet, and the
existing ones suffer from financial and
administrative problems.

The Coaches gained a lot of useful knowledge
from the course; they have been very
enthusiastic and willing to learn a new
techniques.
The course was composed of two
parts:
The theories lessons were aimed to
provide coaches with basic knowledge,
solid foundation of information and
skills needed by coach beginners
rowing.
The practice sessions were conducted in
the Nile, Khartoum Rowing Club.
Through course, various meeting was
organized by the national federation in
order to establish a new long term
athlete development plan 2013-2017.

Racing was over 500m with Sudan winning the
most medals, followed by Kenya with Ethiopia
and Djibouti picking up a medal each.

We are distributed a questionnaires to Rowing federations for Eastern and Central
Africa countries covered (Sudan, Kenya, Somalia, Djibouti, and Uganda).
The questionnaire aims to:
Identify the rowing environment
Prove the hypothesis of the importance of establishing the rowing training
center.
Identify the main problems in these countries.
Knowledge of the requirements that must be provided in training center.
