INTRODUCTION
GMW WILL SEEK TO ACHIEVE THESE GOALS:
To create the industry’s biggest platform to bring
together and encourage participation of artistes,
stakeholders, the media, decision/policy makers
and music users.
To recognize, promote & underscore the
importance & value of all Ghanaian music forms.
To foster and promote a lifelong interest in music
as a basic human experience.
To connect to the African and global market.
To effectively use local labour, talent and
materials to create a unique new festival.
To evaluate and reflect on musical achievements
and creativity in a constructive and educationally
focused way.
To recognize and reward stakeholders who have
contributed to the growth of the industry (And in
the process institute Ghana Music Hall of Fame).
ULTIMATELY, GMW will seek to increase social
togetherness and harmony and promote
economic development through music.
INCREASE OFF-SEASON TOURISM:
It is our intention that the Ghana Music Week will
become one of the most prominent music festivals
on the continent. The key to making it successful
lies in exposing as many potential patrons as
possible to the option of attending, and we will do
so by advertising the event on such regional
networks as Channel O, MTVbase, Africa Magic
and on several international websites.
Locally, we plan to utilize all advertising mediums
available. The festival will be a huge draw for
visitors thus providing the potential for a much
needed boost in the local economy. In future
editions, it is our hope to work closely with the
Ministry of Tourism to promote the festival and
create special promotional deals to encourage
attendance within and outside Africa.
