NominationProcedures, Rules, and Requirements Nominations can be submitted by either directly from a company, from an involved individual, or from a third party. In any case, the Ghana Energy Awards team will send a written acknowledgment to the nominated company or individual to officially inform them about their nomination. All nominations and supporting materials must be submitted electronically through the www.ghanaenergyawards.com's online platform or via email at [email protected]. The online nomination form will allow no more than 300 words per criterion.

thNominations will be closed on 30 September 2017.

Companies or individuals should not be nominated for more than one award that is based on the same merit or as a single achievement as justi�cation for both. Such nominations will be discarded by the judges.Ghana Energy Awards further reserves the right to

• Move a nomination to another category if the entry rather �ts the other category• Not to hand out an award if there were not enough submissions in that category• Not to consider incomplete entries

Submission of NominationsWith each nomination, a company or personal pro�le, a rationale not more than 300 words that summarized the reason for the entry, in case of corporate entry size of company and �nancial statistics that includes total revenue and pro�t in Ghana Cedis for the award period, and for individual categories additional insight into the nominee's quali�cations and background in form of a CV, must be included. Any additional materials that support the nomination can be submitted that may include web links, photographs, and other documents.

GEA recommends that all summaries are tailored to the respective category for which it was made and include examples of outstanding accomplishments, the risks involved, signi�cant obstacles that were overcome and any other relevant information that is deemed necessary. All information and supporting documents submitted via the Online Nomination or email are considered strictly con�dential and will only be used by the Energy Media Group (organizers), Ghana Energy Awards and its panel of judges.

Shortlisting Nominees thNominations will be open until 30 September 2017. The Top 4 Nominees will be shortlisted

GEA will notify the Top 4 Nominees 1-month prior to the awards ceremony on the Ghana Energy Awards website, in a press release and contacted directly about their chance of winning the GEA in the respective category. Recipients of awards won't be declared and noti�ed before the Ghana Energy Awards gala ceremony. The shortlisted candidates must attend the awards ceremony on the

th30 November 2017, at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra.

Jury/JudgingThe Ghana Energy Award winners will be selected by an independent panel of judges. Neither the Ghana Energy Awards nor its sponsors will submit a vote or select the winners.The judging process will rely on the expertise of an impartial panel of international energy experts whose background and experience include regulation, policy making, corporate leadership, trading and strategic consulting. The judges will evaluate the nominees according to speci�c criterion established for the categories. All relevant information on the nominees must be submitted and will be considered and evaluated. The validation of results will be carried out by Ernst & Young, who will be the only entity to know the �nal results ahead of the gala event.

thThe main gala event is on the 30 November 2017 at the Labadi Beach Hotel, Accra, where winners will be publicly declared for the �rst time and they will be handed their awards through a prestigious ceremony.

Judging Procedure Each category has a minimum of 5 criteria assigned to it based on which each nominee is evaluated. Each criterion has 1-10 numerical (1 – worst, 10 – best) scale within it that will give speci�c values to each of them. The members of the judging panel evaluate each nominee and assign a numerical value within each criterion. Afterwards, the criterion is added and is averaged, therefore the nominee receives a numerical value by each judge.

At the end, all the results from each individual judge is added and then averaged to get the overall value in each category for the candidates. The winners of each category are the ones with the highest scores.

Categories Breakdown Some categories are divided into petroleum, and power sub-categories in cases such as “CEO of the Year”, “Industry Leadership Award”, “Emerging Energy Company of the Year” to differentiate between the two core industries that make up the energy sector. The Petroleum sub-category, which covers both upstream and downstream sectors, we establish comparable factors and criteria that will allow us to judge both upstream and downstream nominees and rank them against each other in these 3 categories, even though their operations are different. We additionally set up distinctive award categories that are solely reserved to the upstream and to the downstream sectors such as “Exploration and Production company”, “BDC of the Year”, Oil and Gas Marketing Company of the Year”.

1. Energy Personality of the YearOur Apex Award is given to an outstanding person who achieved wide spread success and approval in the energy sector through his/her actions and achievements that positively bene�ted the sector and Ghana as a whole. Both public and private sector personality are considered under this category and male and female recipients are awarded separately.

2. CEO of the YearThe category is for a Chief Executive Officers or Managing Directors who through leadership and strategy have a signi�cant impact on the organization that he/she is leading while achieving growth and pro�tability.

3. Industry Leadership AwardAwarded to a company that proved that it leads by example as it achieved impeccable results and reputation within the energy sector. The nominee must be considered as a thought leader in the industry and initiator.

4. Emerging Energy Company of the yearAwarded to a company, who is rapidly growing in the energy sector through which it is becoming a signi�cant player in the industry and excels within the space that it operates in. The nominee must operate for less than �ve years.

5. Energy Institution of the yearAn organization, academic, NGO or public, who through its operations and innovation was able to positively impact the energy sector, the community, and Ghana as a whole.

6. Rising Star Award (Individual)Given to a young and upcoming person in the energy sector, who has proven that it is able to achieve success and recognition through his/her work and contribution. Must be between 18 and 35 years.

7. Best Energy Reporter of the yearAwarded to outstanding journalist and media personnel, who was able to impact the energy sector and the community through sound reporting and outstanding work. The nominee must have presented relevant and credible industry and breaking news.

8. Lifetime Achievement AwardThe category wishes to recognize the overall success and incomparable contribution to the energy sector of an individual over an extended period of time that put him/her in the history books and will leave a lasting legacy. Must be a service veteran and respected among the players and the general public as a whole.

9. Brand of the yearThe category is for corporate brand or product, that has excelled in the way it is presented and communicated to the public through which it was able to build wide spread recognition and loyalty.

10. Exploration and Production Company of the yearAwarded to an outstanding organization that participates in the upstream oil and gas sub-sector. The recipient adheres to the highest quality and safety standards.

11. BDC of the yearBulk oil distributors are awarded who through their hard work and efforts achieved a leading status in the market and were able to grow and excel.

12. Oil and Gas Marketing Company of the yearUnder this category, the oil and the LPG marketing companies are recognized who have proven to be successful through their operational and customer relationship strategies. The recipient adheres to the highest quality and safety standards.

13. Renewable Energy Company of the yearThe category wishes to recognize the solar, wind or biogas companies, who offer a new and alternative solution to the needs of the nation, either on a commercial (large-scale) or household level.

14. Corporate Social Responsibility Company of the yearOrganizations are awarded that recognize that they are not standing on their own but rather part of a community and through immense efforts wish to give back to the community.

15. Innovation Project of the yearAwarded to either an individual or an organization who came up with an innovative technology, product or solution to a real-life problem that is affecting the world.

16. Best Local Content Compliance Company of the yearThe winner is recognized for their proven track record for favoring local content or by contributing to the project as the local content providers through their excellence.

17. Energy Insurance Provider of the yearInsurance companies that have provided speci�c services and products to the energy sector that differentiate them from their peers.

18. Energy Financial Provider of the yearFinance companies that have provided speci�c services and products to the energy sector that differentiate them from their peers.

19. Energy Consultancy Services Company of the yearService companies that have provided speci�c services and products to the energy sector that differentiate them from their peers.
