He was a pioneer member of the IVF Team that gave India's first and world's second test tube baby. He was mocked by his peers and his findings were dismissed as bogus by the review committee of West Bengal government. His dream, dare, do spirit led to a breakthrough that has ushered hope for many families. The blessing and farewell for Grade 10 students once again brought home the reality that change and parting are the law of nature. The students paid tearful tribute to the school while describing their school life that gave them learning and confidence for life. The learning experiences that school excursions provide impel students to think and explore beyond text books as they appreciate nature and bond with each other during camps and trips. Winter Carnival; the activity was a platform for the students to enhance their entrepreneurial and organisational skills. We know that 'Focused minds produce great work', and we see all around students with their heads down, pouring over their books in preparation for the Final Assessments. Best of luck to all! A training session on Dyslexia and Specific Learning Disabilies was conducted by MDA (Maharashtra Dyslexia Associaon). The focus of the workshop was to gain a basic understanding about Dyslexia and how teachers can screen students at risk based on certain red flags. Through the workshop it was clarified that dyslexia is a lifelong challenge which cannot be cured or fixed, however, with appropriate support and intervenon, such students can achieve success in school, at work, and in the community. It was an interacve session that generated quesons and clarificaons from the experts. The teachers got effecve ps on how to handle students with Specific Learning Disabilies in the classroom. Beyond Imagination Dream, Dare, Do ...

A training session on Dyslexia and Specific Learning Disabili�es was conducted by MDA (Maharashtra Dyslexia Associa�on). EDUCATIONAL EXCURSIONS

Excursions to Mahabaleshwar and Panchgani :The objec�ve of going on excursions is to help students to evolve into confident individuals who appreciate team work and togetherness. They give students a chance to build closer bonds with their classmates, experience natural environment and new social se�ng. They prac�se social skills and cri�cal thinking abili�es outside of the controlled class se�ng. The highlight of Mahabaleshwar excursion was the day spent at 'Natskies Observatory, Panchgani'. The first ac�vity that the students did was making a rocket using plas�c bo�le. During the process they understood the chemical change that made it shoot up in the air. A�er that they prepared paper rockets with a lot of precision and then launched it. In the evening they had the mesmerizing star gazing ac�vity. With the help of laser light they were shown various constella�ons of stars and also lot of related stories were shared with the students. All these ac�vi�es were conducted under the guidance of a specialist from NASA Mr. Vikram Londhe. He gave astronaut food to taste to everyone. The visits to Venna Lake, Table land plateau, the local bazar, Mapro gardens and the DJ night were thoroughly enjoyed by all the students. The purpose of the trip was to provide them with the hands-on experience which helped them to learn the importance of nature. They also learnt how to be independent and live amicably with their friends.

7 to 9JANUARYEXCURSION TO SILVASA

Students of Grade 5 thoroughly enjoyed the adventurous ac�vi�es like commando bridge crossing, ladder climbing, rifle shoo�ng archery at Treat Resort, Silvasa. The next day they visited Parle Factory and saw how those biscuits and confec�oneries were made. Proceeding further to the Tribal Museum, the students got exposure to tribal culture their lifestyle, clothes, jewellery and how Dangs tribal dwelled in harmony with the ecology. In the evening students visited Dadra Haveli Garden a major tourist centre, blessed with abundance of natural scenic beauty like the swi� flowing rivers, exo�c hills and wide variety of flora and fauna which simply rejuvenated the students. The day ended with a rocking DJ Night where the students tapped their feet to the tune of Bollywood and Hollywood numbers followed by a sumptuous dinner. The third day included interes�ng visits to the Lion and Deer park and the Bu�erfly garden which helped them come closer to the nature and appreciate the other beings.

EXCURSION TO PUNE

'One's des�na�on is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.'An excursion to Pune for 3 days and 2 nights in the month of January was the most fascina�ng one for the children of Grade 6. Student's visited 'Blades of Glory Cricket Museum'. The visit helped students to develop an apprecia�on of the variant sports that our country has par�cipated in and won world championships. Then they visited the well known Katraz Snake Park and Zoo and were fascinated by the variety of snakes and the facts about them. Students also got a chance to visit Bhagyalaxmi Dairy which is the largest in India and known for its best dairy farm prac�ces and animal rearing. The visit to Gowardhan cheese factory enabled tudents to see their produc�on facili�es and products. It was a really enriching experience. Last but not the least, the trip ended with visit to Imagica which added more fun and rejuvena�on to their learning experience.

17 JANUARYINTER SCHOOL DANCE COMPETITION

An Inter School dance compe��on was organised by SHREE GOVARDHANI SARVAJANIK SEV SANSTHA at Belapur. There were around 6 schools who par�cipated from Navi Mumbai. The school performed in two categories, the senior group performed folk dance Gondhaland the junior group performed free style. Their performance included a social message of 'Vote for Asifa'. The compe��on was judged by Mrs Manda Mhatre and Mr Swadesh. The judgement was based on the basis of costume, stage covering, expression, coordina�on and overall Impact. The students got a wonderful exposure and won prizes too.

· Senior group bagged second prize and junior group got fourth prize.

18 JANUARYTHEME PRESENTATION

Theme Presenta�ons are a great way to have students prac�se various language skills like speaking, reading, wri�ng and listening. They also build confidence and develop communica�on skills of the students. During the Theme Presenta�on students enacted the theme of the year 2018-2019, Dream, Dare, Do…Beyond Imagina�on! They began by giving instances of the famous personali�es who had a dream and the ability to do something beyond the imagina�on of the people. Grade 4 students explained about Louis Braille, who invented reading and wri�ng system for blind followed by a skit in Marathi in which they showed the importance of cleanliness. Students of Grade 3 presented a skit showing the dreams of our Prime Minister Mr. Narendera Modi. The first being making the world's tallest statue “The Statue of Unity” dedicated to our late freedom fighter Dr. Sardar Vallabbhai Patel and the second being the “Swatchta Abhiyan” dedicated to the 150th Birth Anniversary of the father of our na�on “Mahatma Gandhi”.

17 JANUARYASSEMBLY

To usher in the New Year and to felicitate the winners of various compe��ons an assembly was conducted by the students of Grade 7C. Students presented a report on the recent excursions for Grades 5 to 8 and the grand Winter Carnival organised in the school.

Prize distribu�on was an important event of the day, first being the Medals for Interna�onal English Olympiad. Medals for dis�nc�on and grade wise Toppers were given away to the meritorious students by the Principal, Mrs. Jaspal Gill.

School par�cipated in inter-school 'Folk and Contemporary' dance compe��on and won second prize for the senior group and fourth posi�on for the junior group respec�vely. Cer�ficates and Trophies were given away to the par�cipants. Par�cipa�on cer�ficates for the Fourth Five Districts Open Track And Field Championship 2018 were also given away. The Principal congratulated the winners and appreciated the hard work of all par�cipants. The assembly concluded with Pledge and Na�onal anthem.

19 JANUARYWINTER CARNIVAL

The Annual Winter Carnival was a part of the community ac�vity held in school premises. It was inaugurated by the Principal Mrs. Jaspal Gill. Groups of enthusias�c students and teachers took charge of the stalls. The entrepreneurial skills of the students from Grades 7 and 8 were demonstrated when they organised various games stalls. Some Pre Primary parents contributed towards the food stalls which were managed by the teachers and drew large crowd. The Carnival also included Live Performances, Karaoke, Discotheque, Puppet Show, Trampoline, Bumpy Castle, Giant Wheel, Exci�ng Games which were enjoyed by people of all ages. Finally the announcement of the Lucky Draw prizes brought smiles on many faces and thus ended the fun filled evening.

17 JANUARYFAREWELL PARTY

“The tender minds we nurtured are ready to take on the world”With mixed emo�ons of sadness and excitement the school organised a farewell for Grade 10 students. Elegantly dressed in sarees and suits, the outgoing students were warmly welcomed with flowers and a welcome drink by the members of the Student Council. The event began with students walking on the ramp. While on the stage they shared their journey in their school and about how they are going to miss every moment of it. It was an emo�onal �me for both the students and their teachers. The next round was a talent round for the selected students which was very entertaining. A�er the fourth and the final round the students were conferred with different �tles like Ms. Beau�ful Smile ,Best Saree, Best Entertainer, Best Speaker and so on. Ms. Aishani Bardhan and Master Aayush Rangras were crowned as the GHV Princess and GHV Prince respec�vely. The Head girl Mahek Bha�a and Head boy Prince Shah addressed the audience. The boys of Grade 10 danced to the tunes of a Hindi song 'Gal� se mistake'. Ms Joanna Jacob of 10 sang a song. The Principal, Ms.Gill then presented mementos to the outgoing students. This was followed by a cake cu�ng ceremony and a Blessing Ceremony for their Board Exams.The day was a fiesta devoted to the years spent together with friends and teachers to reminisce joyous moments.

26 JANUARYREPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS

The Republic Day was celebrated in all its solemnity and grandeur. The en�re school was resplendent in shades of the Tricolour. As the Principal unfurled the Na�onal flag everyone saluted it and pledged themselves to upholding the honour and integrity of India. A�er the Na�onal Anthem there was an inspiring speech by a student of Grade 11. The day was made special when track races were organised for the staff of the school. Staff members from all departments Housekeeping, Administra�on, Accounts, Teaching geared up and par�cipated in the races. The winners were felicitated by the Principal.

Pre-PrimaryMASTER CHEF WITH DAD'S 11 JANUARY

The Master Chef with dads was held on 11 January 2019 .The dads were very enthusias�c to par�cipate in this event. This event was based on non-fire cooking. There were 7 groups and different variety of non- fire cooking. The nursery students were helping there dad's in the non –fire cooking. The judges went around all the tables and tasted the food. The judgment was done on the basis of hygiene, taste and presenta�on. At last the winners were declared. Overall the event went good.

The enthusiasm of the dads was brimming to the core.

KITE DAY 14 JANUARY

Makarsankran� also popularly known as Kite Day amongst younger ones was celebrated in Pre-Primary Sec�on during school hours. Students brought colorful kites to celebrate the Kite Fes�val with their teachers and friends. The teachers took all the students to the school terrace to fly their kites. The students enjoyed flying kites with their friends.

Indeed, it was a memorable celebra�on.

REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION 25 JANUARY

Republic Day was celebrated in the Pre-Primary sec�on during the school hours. The students came dressed in tri-colour a�re. The event took place in the Ac�vity Room. The assembly was conducted by the students of Jr KG Carna�ons, followed by speeches given by a Jr KG and a Sr KG student. The beau�ful finale dance was performed by the Nursery students.

It was indeed a very informa�ve and enjoyable event.

miracle possible, sadly did not get recogni�on for his

efforts during his life�me.
