Where Did All That Money Go? When we put together our “Foundations for the Future” Capital Campaign, we designated 10% of all money raised to be given to missions. This was an ambitious and generous goal, and we’ve been setting aside the 10% for mission work as money has been received. As of the end of Feb. we had received about $724,000 in total campaign giving, meaning we have over $70,000 available for missions. Here is what we have done with the mission money:

$30,000 Clean water project in Ciudad Hidalgo, Chiapas, Mexico. We have partnered with Water Missions International to provide drinking water for up to 10,000 people! This project should be completed in the next few months.

$20,000 Gettysburg C.A.R.E.S We have been a supporter of this ministry to house homeless people and assist them in finding permanent housing since it began three years ago. Their financial needs include money for staffing and office space.

$10,000 Adams Rescue Mission This money will help renovate their kitchen, a project that is desperately needed.

$10,000 Source of Life orphanage in Haiti. We have worked with their director, Jacques Merine for five years, watch-ing this dream become a reality!

Thank you to all of you for your faithful giving to the capital campaign, which is in its last year. We need about $75,000 to meet our goal of $800,000. Let’s finish strong! Dave

TO LENTEN SMALL GROUP LEADERS AND PARTICIPANTS

On behalf of the Adult Discipleship Committee I want to thank each of you for your leadership and participation in the Lenten Small Groups. I hope that you found our study of the Apostles’ Creed for Today to be rewarding and inspiring in our journey together as disciples of Jesus Christ. I know I will be more thoughtful about the meaning of each word in the Creed each time I recite it in the future. I truly believe that small groups offer us a unique opportunity to fellow-ship together and learn more of God’s will in our lives as we travel together as brothers and sisters in Christ. In Christ, John Harman, Elder Adult Discipleship Committee

THANK YOU to all adults who helped make the Youth Club Lock-In a success.

We had 18 children go swimming at the YWCA and then return to GPC for pizza and a night of games.

Mexico Mission Trip Mexico Mission Trip applications are now available and are due back on April 10. Trip dates are July 11-18. We’ll do a construction project (no skills necessary!), run a Vacation Bible School, distribute reading glasses, and fellowship with our Christian brothers and sisters in the Yucatan. Contact Pastor Dave at 334-1235, ext. 3 for more info.

ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL ELECTIVE

“ASK – FAITH QUESTIONS IN A SKEPTICAL AGE”

We live in a skeptical age. People –especially young people—express doubts about Christian

faith. In this thoughtful 8 week study, Bishop Scott Jones and Rev. Arthur Jones address

hard questions that we all face when considering faith, religion and the church. Susan

Kolmer will facilitate this discussion beginning Sunday, April 3 through May 29 at 9:30 am

in the MacAskill Room. Everyone welcome.

Projects you wish us to consider (Please be as specific as possible):

Return the form to Rev. Lou Nyiri either in the church office, in the offering plate or

via email [email protected].

If you could use a 5-7 person servant team of high school students and adult leaders to come to your home and assist

you with mild clean up or upkeep, then contact Rev. Nyiri in the church office. We are looking for projects that will

take no more than 2 hours to complete – i.e. washing windows, cleaning gutters, moving furniture, and possibly mod-

est home repair. Our worksite coordinating team will contact you to discuss the project and see if it will fit into a 2

hour allotted time. This event is part of our high school workcamp preparation as we get ready to go and serve this

summer in Prairie Grove, AR. The group would arrive at your home on Saturday, April 30th around 9:30 a.m. and

work on the assigned project. At noon they will be cleaned up, enjoy a lunch which they will bring with them and

have a devotion during their lunch time. You are invited to join them in the devotion if you are so inclined. Return

April We will be collecting items for

Survivors, Inc. NEW & UNOPENED Toiletries - soap, shampoo,

deodorant, etc. (Survivors is unable to accept hotel size toiletries), sheet sets, blankets, plug-in alarm clocks,

towels, washcloths, diapers, baby wipes, “sippie” cups, and baby bottles.

PW RUMMAGE, PLANT & BAKE SALE April 11 – April 16, 2016

This has been a “cabin fever” winter. We hope that you used those shut-in days to clean out the basement, closets, kitchen cabinets, dresser drawers and all other storage places to salvage good, saleable items for the Spring 2016 Rummage Sale. If you are still in the winter doldrums, get the spirit and get busy! Clean out – pot plants – and start baking! We are looking forward to your goods as well as your business on sale days. As always storage space is minimal, so, if possible, bring your treasures to the church beginning on Monday, April 11. You can then leave them in the corner near the outside door to Fellowship Hall. It also reduces work for the volunteers who set up. Please bring clothing that is clean and in good condition and items that “work”. Also, please no teflon coated pans or skillets or items that require special handling for dis-position. The Schedule: Rummage and Plant Sale: Friday, April 15th – 8:30AM to 5PM and Saturday, April 16th – 8:30AM to 12 Noon.

Bake Sale and Lunch: Friday, April 15th – 8:30AM to 1PM (or until sold out) Lots of scrumptious baked goods. Lunch menu is hot dogs with a variety of toppings, Sloppy Joes, chips and soft drinks.

Drop-Offs: On Monday, April 11th – instructions above; Tuesday, April 12th – 8:30AM to 5PM; Wednesday, April 13th – 8:30AM to 7PM; Thursday, April 14th – 8:30AM to NOON.

Sorting and Pricing: Tuesday, April 12th , Wednesday, April 13th, and Thursday, April 14th – 9AM to 5PM. Please give an hour or more on any, or all these days to help. The more hands, the better!

Baked Goods: Drop off by 8AM on Friday, April 15th, or the night before, if frozen.

Plants: May be dropped off on Monday or Tuesday, please be sure that they are moist; but Wednesday or Thursday is best.

Clean-up: Saturday, April 16th, from Noon until finished (usually 1 to 1 ½ hrs.)

Volunteers are needed to set up, sort, price, check-out and clean-up. If you will help, or have questions about the sales, please call or email one of the following: Amy Deitch 337-3534 [email protected] Bev Weber 337-2194 [email protected] Sheryl Suplee 337-3267 [email protected]
