Know your stuffKnow your students:

• In order to get the assessment right you need to know the needs and the standard of your pupils, so you are able to pitch both your formative and summative assessment appropriately.

Know your assessment criteria:

• You need to know your subject requirements to be able to assess;1. Is the student making progress?2. Are they working at the level they should be?3. Am I pitching my assessment at a level with both engages and challenges my

students?

Don’t make the assessment too hard! Assessments are not supposed to trip up students but monitor and measure the progress they are making.

More support is better than less!

5 pillars to simplifying Assessment 1. Does your curriculum prepare pupils for summative assessment?

(Content & Skills) 2. Is the language used in the lessons the same as the language used

on the assessment? (Koran & Quran) 3. Are you providing revision materials? Are they accessible? Do they

include activities? Can you monitor usage? 4. Are you confident answering all the questions? 5. Have you prepared a relaxing environment?
