Welcome to Gesa’s quarterly business newsletter, “The Bottom Line.” We are off to a fast start in 2015 and hope that you are too.

Spring is a great time for building. Contractors are building new homes and commercial buildings. Cities are building new parks and trails. And during the last eighteen months, Gesa has been building our strong commercial team to better serve our business members. During the first quarter, our Cash Management Team has added two new employees. The sole focus of our Cash Management Team is to build and enhance our business members’ banking relationship

with Gesa. Every business member matters to us and we continue to focus our efforts on their member experience. Cash Management is one of the ways in which we can assist in making banking transactions more convenient. These products and services are great tools to help manage daily operational cash flows.

In this issue of, “The Bottom Line,” we will discuss our Cash Management program and introduce our team. As always, we love to spotlight our business members. The tagline of Brews Taphouse & Growler Fills really says it all. They are ‘All About the Beer’. Located at 5426 N. Road 68, Pasco, Brews Taphouse & Growler Fills opened its doors in August 2014. Owners Mark and Rachel Garrett were inspired to embark on a new business adventure after visiting a brewery in Oregon. Mark always had a good business sense as well as an interest in craft beers. With his wife’s support, their business came to life as well as with it their own sense of beer culture.

Brews Taphouse offers beers from different places, the goal being to bring new styles and flavors not typically available in Tri-Cities. This includes serving International beers on tap. The types of beers offered are continually rotated with 40 beers, three ciders, and two wines to choose from.

When Mark and Rachel decided to start their own business, they knew their first step was to get approval for a loan. “I was looking for institutions that had a good reputation and would allow me to fulfill my business plans,” said Mark. “I got in touch with Gary Grant, Commercial Loan Officer at Gesa, and told him about my idea. He was willing to help us and started with the documentation right away. He was a great support.” After getting approved for an SBA (Small Business Administration) loan, the process moved quickly.

“The process was smooth and I felt it was always progressing,” said Mark. Gary provided the guidance Mark and Rachel needed to get their loan and start their own business. “The experience was very positive. Looking back I don’t know what could have gone better”.
