Dear Summer Students,

We are so excited that you will be joining us this summer on the hilltop! There are lots of things in store for you, including rigorous classes with world-renowned faculty, events and activities on campus, and opportunities to explore the nation’s capital. At Georgetown Summer Sessions you can take up to twelve credits in just ten weeks, which is equivalent to taking a full course load in a fifteen-week fall or spring semester, and you will learn every-thing you normally would in those longer term classes. That means you can master a whole level of a foreign language at one of our foreign language institutes or complete an entire science sequence with the lab components.

We also offer community-based learning courses in conjunction with the Center for Social Justice, so you can incorporate community service into your summer experience. Finally, if your summer plans don’t include Washington, DC, we also offer select classes online, which means you can earn your Georgetown summer credits from almost anywhere in the world.

This welcome packet contains important details to get you started at Georgetown Summer Sessions, including the steps you will need to complete prior to arriving, tips to make the most of your summer with us, resources available to summer students, and some tips on what to do after you complete your studies with us.

If you have any questions, please contact Parent and Student Services by phone at (202) 687-7087.

Sincerely,

Georgetown Summer Sessions Staff

WELCOME TO GEORGETOWN SUMMER SESSIONS!

1. COMPLETE YOUR ENROLLMENT CONFIRMATION:

Your first step towards joining us this summer is to complete an enrollment response form

confirming that you intend to enroll in Georgetown Summer Sessions courses. To com-

plete the enrollment response form, simply log in to your Apply Yourself account, locate

your official acceptance letter in the “Decision Status” section, and follow the instructions

in your acceptance letter to confirm that you will be attending Summer Sessions.

Please allow two to three business days for your confirmation to be processed and

for your status to be updated in our system. Once your status has been updated,

you will then have access to register for your courses, starting February 6th.

2. OBTAIN YOUR GEORGETOWN NET ID:

You will receive your NetID, temporary password, and

GUID (a unique nine-digit identification number beginning

with “8”) electronically. You will receive an email notifica-

tion asking you to login to your Apply Yourself account to

retrieve your Georgetown NetID, temporary password, and

GUID. You must select a permanent NetID password as

soon as possible. Visit the University NetID services web-

site at http://netid.georgetown.edu and select “Change

your NetID password.” If you have questions regarding

your NetID password or need assistance in resetting it,

contact the Student Help Desk at tech-

[email protected] or (202) 687-4577.

TO JOIN US THIS SUMMER, FOLLOW THESE STEPS:

Remember- all NetID and Net-ID passwords are the keys to

your confidential student infor-mation, such as registration

records, grades, etc. So keep both in a safe place and enroll in password station at https://password.georgetown.edu in

case you forget your password.

3. COMPLETE YOUR REGISTRATION:

Registration begins February 6th. To register for your summer classes, simply follow these steps:

To register, go to http://myaccess.georgetown.edu.

Click on “MyAccess.”

You will then need to enter your NetID and password. All returning students will already have a NetID and password. If you do not remember your NetID and password, please call the UIS Help Desk at (202) 687-4577 for assistance or use password station.

Once you login to MyAccess, click on “Student” from the Main Menu and then click on “Registration.”

Click on “Registration (Add, Drop, or Waitlist Courses).” You may be asked to verify some personal information before you can proceed. Once you confirm this information, you may search the schedule or enter the CRN number (course ref-erence numbers are five digit numbers found on the schedule of classes next to the course title) for the course(s) you would like to take. Follow the prompts at the bottom of the screen to submit your registration.

If you would like to view your student schedule, you can do so by logging onto MyAccess at any time.

Having trouble registering? If you receive an error message in MyAccess that says you do not have access to services on your account, then your enrollment response form has not been fully processed yet. Please wait 2-3 business days for your enrollment response form to be processed before attempting to register. After that time, please call or email us if you continue to experience difficulties registering. If you have questions about your enrollment response form, please call your admissions repre-sentative at (202) 687-6299.

4. PAY FOR YOUR SUMMER COURSES:

To view and pay your bill, login to MyAccess and click on “Student Account” and simply follow the prompts to view your balance and pay electronically. Please note: The Office of Billing and Payment Services does not mail student invoices, so you must view your bill online.

If you register prior to April 1st, you will not see any tuition and fees balance on your account until April 2nd. If you register after April 1st, you will see your tuition and fees balance on your account twenty-four hours after you register.

To avoid being dropped from your courses or being charged a late fee, payment must be received prior to the first day of class. Please note that failure to pay out-standing student account balances will necessitate the forwarding of the account to a credit bureau and a collection agency. To view and pay your bill, please use MyAc-cess: http://myaccess.georgetown.edu/. You will need your NetID and password to login to MyAccess.

AFTER GEORGETOWN SUMMER SESSIONS...

All summer students will continue to have access to their Georgetown email and their student records via MyAccess after completing Georgetown Summer Sessions. How-ever, summer students will not have access to register for classes beyond the summer term for which they were admitted. Any summer students interested in attending Georgetown Summer Sessions again will need to re-apply. Below are some helpful resources for students who have completed Georgetown Summer Sessions.

APPLYING TO GEORGETOWN AS A NON-DEGREE FALL/SPRING STUDENT:

While Georgetown Summer Sessions matriculates non-degree students in the summer term, it does not admit non-degree students in the fall or spring semesters. If summer students are interested in attending Georgetown as a non-degree student in the fall or spring semester, please contact Undergraduate Admissions for undergradu-ate level classes or the School of Continuing Studies for graduate level classes.

Students can access information about taking undergraduate level courses as a non-degree student at http://uadmissions.georgetown.edu by clicking on “Applying to Georgetown” and then clicking on “Visiting Student Program.”

Students can access information about taking graduate level courses as a non-degree student at http://scs.georgetown.edu and clicking on “Degrees and Programs” and then clicking on “Visiting Non-degree Status.”

TRANSCRIPTS:

Should you want to obtain your official Georgetown University transcript upon viewing your summer course grades on MyAccess, you may order your transcript via MyAccess or by completing a Transcript Request Form and submitting it to the Univer-sity Registrar. Students can access the request form at http://registrar.georgetown.edu/forms/transcriptrequestformold.PDF. Students are encour-aged to submit transcript requests two weeks after grades have been posted.
