INTRODUCTION

This list of selected references was used in the compilation of the Geological Survey of Wyoming's Metall ic and Industrial Minerals Map of Wyoming. Thereferences are separated by region, or by mining district. These regions anddistricts are those shown on the Metallic and Industrial Minerals Map of Wyoming.

The boundaries of the mining districts as depicted on the map and as usedin this report are based on similar and favorable geology rather than historicboundaries. The names applied to the districts are names that are in commonusage. even though there may be more than one historic name attached t·o thedistrict. For example, the South Pass District has historically been called theAtlantic City, South Pass. Miners Delight. and the Sweetwater District. as wellas several other names. For simplicity, we are calling it the South PassDistrict.

The references in the listing provide some sources of information on theregional geology and geologic setting of the various districts and regions aswell as information on the probable genesis (if known) of the deposits foundwithin the mining districts. Supplemental and basic information ahout manyoccurrences are not contained in these references. The authors can provipe thisinformation at the offices of the Wyoming Geological Survey on the University ofWyoming campus. The Geological Survey of Wyoming's mailing address and telephone numbers are:
