Duane Mayer has been working with and building cars since before he could drive. Early on, a chance meeting with Boyd Sr. landed him a job as shop foreman at Hot Rods By Boyd. Duane was responsible for coordinating some of the most high profile builds to emerge from Hot Rods By Boyd, including: Cadzilla, AlumaCoupe, Chezoom, Boyd-Air, Smoothster, Boydster One, Boydster Two, Led Zephyr, AlumaTruck, AlumaTub and many more. Each Legacy™ Series wheel is hand carved from a forged 6061 T-6 billet aluminum center. Every wheel is fitted with our new 6061 seamless one-piece rim. These new rims are lighter, stronger, truer and more resistant to surface corrosion than the competition’s old 5000 series rims. The rim shells are TPMS compatible, CNC-machined, and able to absorb the increased horsepower of today’s Hot Rods and Muscle Cars. The entire wheel is hand-finished to perfection, which has become, and always will be, our standard.

One-Off Wheels for

The individuality of hot rodding is what makes it the remarkable sport that it is. At Boyds, creating a one-off custom wheel is a process. We begin by gathering your thoughts and concepts for a wheel design (i.e., traditional, modern, multi spoke, big windows, or full face)

Boyds has been building one-off designs for more than 25 years. In fact, Boyds has built more custom one-off wheels for America’s Most Beautiful Roadster

show winners than any other wheel manufacturer. This includes the seven Americas Most Beautiful Roadster titles and back-to-back wins by Boyd Sr. So, when it comes to designing and building custom one-off wheels, insist on Genuine Boyds.

Initial design/concept is discussed with the customer and

rough sketches are completed based on your requirements, styling and

fitment needs. Once a design is determined, an

artist’s sketch is completed and submitted to the

customer.

We then produce a computer 2-D model along with the machine program for the concept including specifications and tolerances. A full range of engineering and design are available through Boyds skilled machinists and engineers.

Aerospace quality virgin 6061 billet aluminum blanks are cut using a CNC saw to start the milling of the design.

The tempered blank is 100% CNC lathed to within .012 of perfection in a dual head vertical turning center. Then, using the state-of-the-art 3-D CNC mills, the lathed center has its cosmetics and attachment holes milled to exacting tolerances.

After the 2-D drawings have been approved, a 3-D solid model using the latest Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software translates each design’s solid 3D computer model into a wheel that precisely matches the one of a kind wheel design completed by our engineering teams.

All wheels complete Finite Element Analysis (FEA) before ANY are produced.

While Boyds believes strongly in the benefits of technology, we also know that hand-built craftsmanship is required to achieve the highest level of quality. The only way to accomplish consistent quality

in every wheel we build is through the experienced hands of our skilled craftsmen. Boyds polished and brushed/satin finishes are renowned for our attention to detail and refinement resulting from our hand-finished product.

The new Vintage-5 by Boyd Coddington is an affordable option to our popular billet Junk Yard Dog. The Vintage-5 is constructed using a precision cast center that is 360˚ mig welded into our new forged 6061 T-6 one-piece seamless soft lip rim. Our new forged rim is lighter, truer and stronger than the competition and because

it is a forged one piece construction, no more leakers! The Vintage-5 is built specific for your muscle car, street rod, Pro-Touring car, or street machine. Every Boyd Coddington wheel is proudly built in the U.S.A. by American craftsmen.

Charley Hutton is one of the most talented automotive painters and fabricators in the world today. Well-known in the custom car world for his work on high-end street rods, the high standards Charley sets for himself shows in the cars he produces, and have won him national recognition, including two Ridler Awards, several Street Rod of the Year and Custom Rod of the Year awards, as well as the prestigious America’s Most Beautiful Roadster Award.

Charley was responsible for painting some of the top hot rods to emerge from Boyd Coddington’s shop, including the 1938 Lincoln Zephyr-“Led Zephyr”, 1930 Delahaye-“Whatthehaye”, 1965 Mustang-“Crazy Horse”, 1956 Chevy-“Junk Yard Dog”, Gil Losi’s “Boydster II”

Charley has opened his own facility, CHARLEY HUTTON’S COLOR STUDIO in Nampa, Idaho. You can expect to see the next generation of super rods emerging from
