EditorialIt’s been a somber year...

The year 2016 has seen it’s fair share of setbacks and the world has lost many of its stars and legends, having many of us thinking back to when we last saw their movies or concerts and wished we could do it all over again.

Genki this year also saw its share of setbacks, and here too, there were things we wanted to see and do again. For Genki, however, we were able to pull a Victor Frankenstein and bring some things “back from the dead”: the AMV-contest, the Karaoke Room, and the Maid Café, to name the bigger ones!

It seems like old events weren’t the only thing that was brought back, as youkai (Japanese monsters) and other horrid things seem to roam the halls and rooms of Genki 2016, so please watch your step.

That having been said, however, we wish you are horror-bly good (would that be called “terror-fic”?) Genki, and hope you’ll enjoy your time with us.

P.S. Please be extra careful in that one bathroom, it’s not properly exorcised…

Best regards

Victor M. AlringMain organizer

RulesGenki is a place for everyone, and we want people to get along and have a nice experience. However, we can not do this without having some rules in place.

In addition to Danish National laws, there a several rules that participants must abide by, in order to ensure that everyone has a good time at the convention.

All rulesets for the convention need to be followed when applicable, i.e. photo rules, press rules, expo hall, weapon rules and “Free hugs” rules.

Instructions and guidelines stated, either visually or by staff and security, have to be followed at all times.

While on convention grounds, consumption or usage of any intoxicating or hallucinatory drugs/substances is prohibited. Smoking is permitted, but only to designated areas.

Exceptions may be applicable to certain events when stated with visible information upon entering the particular event. Exception is only valid during that particular event.General noise levels should be kept within reasonable limits.

When queues form at the entrances of events, keep order and behave nicely to your fellow guests.

Do not, in any way, block corridors, pathways, or any other place where movement is crucial.

Cosplay is not consent! Refrain from unsolicited touching of other people, their cosplays, or their props – respect their personal space!

It is likewise not permitted to cat call, harass, or in any other way behave in an offensive manner towards others, be it physically or verbally.

If you feel you’ve been accosted or harassed, whether it be physically or verbally, or you’ve witnessed someone who has, then immediately contact our security personnel or go to the Info Desk and tell them what happened. Our security personnel will then take care of the situation.

Breaking any of these rules will, depending on severity, result in a warning or a ban from the rest of the convention. Several warnings can also trigger a ban. Breaking any law will result in a ban and being reported to the police.

Rules for wristbandsGuests without valid Genki wristband will only have access to designated free areas.A fee will be collected for replacing a lost or damaged bracelet.Replacement bracelets can only be issued in the check-in area and you must show valid ID and ticket.

Special photo/video rulesBy attending Genki, the participants give implicit consent for Genki and The Reactor ApS – the company behind Genki – to use any and all photo and video footage taken of them, by official Genki photographers, for any sort of commercial and non-commercial purposes.

Example of such purposes are: Advertisements Website galleries Online material Presentations Etc.

If a person does not wish for their likeness to be used, they can either tell the photographer, whereafter the photographer must delete the photo, or contact Genki directly.

GUESTS OF HONOR // Expo hallEmperpepWe are pleased to be presenting Emperpep here at Genki, his first convention in Europe.

Emperpep has loved drawing since he started as a kid in 2004; mostly as a hobby though. His close friend (who came up with the penname emperpep) asked him to do a drawing challenge together when they were 17 years old, after that, he sought to continuously improve, which he’s been doing ever since.

“My urge to improve is quite simple, I just wanted to see how my art will look like when I get better over time.

I'm planning to meet people in person because I usually live and work alone in my studio, drawing and sharing art knowledge with people would be nice, take a look around artist booths and look for random stuff that catch my interest, and sightseeing in Denmark looking for nice ideas and experiences.“

emperpep.deviantart.com

Palle SchmidtComic Express invited Palle Schmidt to the convention where there will be a signing session on Saturday at their booth (booth P) in the Expo Hall.

“I’m a freelance illustrator, writer and comic book artist living in Copenhagen, Denmark, with my wife and two daughters.I have no formal education but started my career writing and drawing for the Danish roleplaying magazine “Fønix” and later became one of the editors.

I published my first comic book “Night of the Long Faces” in 1999, a semi-biographical look at desperate nightlife, and the hard-boiled detective roleplaying game “Fusion” in 2000.In 2011 my book “The Devil’s Concubine” was released in the US from IDW Publishing.

In 2012 I completed a 1-year education in screenwriting at The National Film School of Denmark, while finishing my graphic novel “Stiletto”, which was released in Denmark in 2013.

I was the artist on “Thomas Alsop“, a monthly book from BOOM! Studios with writer Chris Miskiewicz, dubbed Best Mini-Series of 2014 by USA Today. I teach comics on comicsForBeginners.com. “

In case of an emergencyIn case of a fire or other emergencies, please remain calm and move towards the nearest exit. Follow the instructions given by our staff, assemble in the grassy field behind Farum Arena.

Cosplay and ConductAs always, we look forward to seeing a lot of wonderful and awesome cosplays. We want people to feel safe and confident, no matter how bizarre or revealing their outfits might be, and that starts with some clear rules about conduct. We trust our visitors to behave with decency and respect towards others. The cosplayers are not plastic figurines, and ANYTHING relating to them andtheir costumes are boundaries theyset themselves - whether it’s physically or emotionally.

For some, wearing these costumes in a crowd is a rather big leap, and we want toencourage them with compliments, not scare them away with disrespectful behaviour. If you feel someone is behaving disrespectfully, regardless of whether it’s directed towards you or someone else, please contact security or the info desk.People unable to follow the rules of conduct could potentially have their entry revoked and be escorted out of the convention.Of course, if you have some rough play with your friends, make sure thatpeople around you know that everything is cool.

Phones and chargingAt the Info Desk you can charge your mobile phones, digital cameras and other electronic devices (up to 15 W), for a 5 DKK fee. Please note that we have only basic USB chargers, so if your device uses a special charger, supply that as well.

We know the importance of a charged phone at a convention (like saving important digits from new friends, getting a selfie with all the Deadpools and calling your family to tell that you love them), which is why we are offering this service.

Devices left for charging and not claimed by Sunday at 18:00 will be handed over to lost and found.
