GENESIS HTRAC VIDEO CONCEPTS 11/24/14

BLIZZARD BOULEVARD.Blizzard Boulevard. Because Hyundai legal feels the Genesis should operate on a street, but the demonstration needs a challenging street in California, we will turn Lombard St. in San Francisco into “Blizzard Boulevard.” To achieve this, we will truck in tons of snow and pack the street from top to bottom. Then, a test driver will drive the Genesis HTRAC both up and down the slick surface. Blizzard Boulevard should be permit-able as San Francisco has al-lowed a snow event on Fillmore St. in the past. This concept may tax the budget, but it will be memorable and shareable. In addition, it offers an opportunity to include spectator com-

Which sounds very impressive. But not nearly as impressive as seeing the HTRAC All-Wheel Drive in action — on a really challenging road, … in really bad conditions.

CUT TO: GENESIS PULLING UP TO AN INTERSECTION IN THE RUSSIAN HILL NEIGHBORHOOD — LEAVENWORTH ST. AND LOMBARD ST. AT THE BOTTOM OF LOMBARD. THERE’S A CURIOUS CROWD OF PEDESTRIANS/ SPECTATORS GATHERED TO WATCH.

Of course, that scenario doesn’t always make itself available. So we had to make it ourselves. Here, on Lombard Street in San Francisco.

SUPER: HYUNDAI GENESIS “BLIZZARD BOULEVARD”

Today we’re turning it into “Blizzard Boulevard.”

CUT TO: SHOT OF LOMBARD STREET HIGHLIGHTING THE FAMOUS SERPENTINE TURNS.

In one, 600-foot block, the Genesis will face eight hairpin turns on a 27° incline hill during a freak snow storm. All we needed was … a freak snow storm.

CUT TO: CU OF A SPECTATOR ON THE SIDEWALK BEHIND THE GENESIS. HE HAS A VERY CONFUSED LOOK ON HIS FACE/LOOKS UP AT THE CLEAR SKY.

Spectator 1: Huh?

CUT TO: SNOW FILLED DUMP TRUCKS ALONG THE HILL. ON TOP OF THE MOUNDS OF SNOW IN THE TRUCKS, WE SEE EVENT WORKERS WITH SHOVELS.

AVO: And right on cue, we got one, shipped straight from the wintry slopes in Lake Tahoe — in fact, 200 tons of fresh packed, nasty road conditions.

CUT TO: EVENT WORKERS SPREADING FRESH SNOW ALL OVER LOMBARD STREET, CURB-TO-CURB, 6” DEEP.

AVO (to workers): Curb to curb, boys … “Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!”

CUT TO: ANOTHER SPECTATOR. Spectator 2: No way!

CUT TO: AN ENGINEER AT THE CHALLENGE WHO EXPLAINS THE VALUE OF THE TEST.

Engineer: Actually, it’s the perfect way to demonstrate how the HTRAC’s electronic transfer system automatically delivers driving force where it’s need most.

CUT TO: ANOTHER SPECTATOR. Spectator 3: I can’t believe any car can get up that.

HYUNDAI HALF-PIPEThe Hyundai Half-Pipe. With the understanding of Hyundai Legal not wanting to de-

pict the Genesis “off roading,” we continued to research memorable surfaces on which the Genesis could perform. We found that ski areas which host competitions

build there half-pipes close to the parking area. The example we are using in the board is Park City, Utah. The half-pipe is simply being used as a surface much like an ice rink would, and a portable ramp can be used to get the Genesis to the half-pipe without driving off road. While this location is out of state, it too is a one-day

drive for cars and equipment.

SNOWY MOUNTAIN ROAD Snowy Mountain Road. As requested, this concept takes place on a snow covered mountain road. Currently Kings Canyon National Park in northern California has enough snow to support this idea. The video will be made interesting by adding obstacles a driver

might encounter in an environment such as this.

Music: (tbd) AVO: Everyone knows how fun a snowy, wintry day can be — on a sled.

CUT TO: A SNOWY, SLICK UPHILL STRETCH OF ROAD NEXT TO THE FAMILY PLAYING IN THE SNOW.

But tackling the same conditions in a luxury sedan usually makes for a tense, nerve-racking experience.

Driver VO: Let’s see how it handles some twists and turns.

CUT TO: THE MOM DAD WHO ARE SLEDDING WITH THEIR KIDS. THEY’VE STOPPED TO ADMIRE THE GENESIS DRIVING UP THE MOUNTAIN.

Dad (to himself): I didn’t know a car could do that.

Driver: Have to admit, the performance and handling are seamless. But I’m only half sold. Now for the other half — going downhill.

Driver: And I’m not disappointed.

Driver VO: In any other vehicle, this would be a white-knuckle experience.
