November 2018 Board of Education Report

Mr. Brian Edmister, Elementary Principal

Ms. Zlomek’s Kindergarten class did a glow stick experiment. We put one glow stick in a cup of ice and another in a cup of warm water. We wanted to see which temperature would give the brighter light? Dimmer light? You will have to ask one of our kindergarten scientists about the results of our experiment!

On Friday, October 26th, The PTO and Ms. Wesche put on the most amazing Haunted Hallway, hayrides, games, Trick or Treating, and total family fun night! We had ghosts, goblins, Queen Bees, and more that attended and had a great time!

On Friday, November 16th, the Middle School enjoyed a Pizza/Pool Party! Kids had a blast! Thank you 5 th

Our 6th Grades got the opportunity to talk to NASA via a Virtual Field trip. They talked about future Missions to Mars. It was interesting and exciting for them!

Ms. Musingo did a fantastic job with our CPI Training. Ms. Donlon, Ms. Mighells, Mr. Rounds, and I all received our cards for Crisis Prevention and Intervention course. Pictured above, Ms. Mighells and Ms. Donlon put Officer Rounds in a hold that prevents him from harming himself or others.

I want to thank Dr. Schmitt and the Board of Education for supporting me as I updated my knowledge base with the Superintendent’s Development Course through SUNY Oswego. During the course of the last 18 months, we have explored almost every aspect of the role of Superintendent. Dr. Schmitt has been great as our advisor. On November 4th, Brett Dusinberre (Alfred-Almond Elementary Principal) and I completed the SDP with a final presentation evaluated by area Superintendents. It has been a rewarding journey that has given me a bird’s eye view of education and our district.
